Get 2 GB Hotmail!
January 3rd, 2006 at 07:54pm
Still stuck with 2MB or 250MB hotmail mailbox ? Follow these three simple steps in IE… and enjoy!
Step 1: Log into your hotmail account using Internet Explorer - Does not work if you try to activate this using Firefox. Also make sure your address in your hotmail account is United States.
Step 2: Click on this link
(better copy the link given above and paste it into the window in which you have your hotmail account opened!)
Step 3: Click Join Mail Beta
Now your hotmail account is upgraded to Live Mail with 2GB of storage!
This procedure worked fine for me when I tried it out a couple of mins back.
Not sure how long it would last!

Another thing, not to do with the 2GB limit, but any of you still on Hotmail make sure that you either log-out or close your browser when you leave the PC you’re on.
A while ago I found a very quick way around entering a password on a page where the e-mail is already filled in and that person has logged in previously.
Live Mail has corrected this (probably because I or someone else told them) but it’s likely Hotmail is still prone, so when you’re done, shut your browser!

I followed what you said muath and it confirms it, if you have Live Mail you have a 2GB limit.
For anyone else having problems, I followed another guide to get past the 2MB limit to 250MB first (also on this site afaik) then I found this one. Maybe that is what is catching people out?
Just out of interest, what happens if you hotmail people go to http://mail.live.com and try to log in?

I’ve just been looking at mine and I can no longer see anything specifying how much space there is. There used to be a bit on the left that said “2000MB” on mine but it has gone.
I think it is fairly safe to assume that if you’re using the Live Mail Beta then you have a 2000MB limit, if you’re still only on Hotmail I would guess it still says how much you have on the left.
