The Real Design of New Infosys Campus at Mangalore
November 11th, 2005 at 12:41pm
Update (13-Apr-2007): Apparently, I heard recently that they have changed the design - due to the nature of the soil at the construction area. I think it won’t be a inverted pyramid as shown below.
OK. This one is for real, unlike the major HOAX forward mail that was floating around a couple of months back.
The real proposed Design of the new Infosys Campus at Mangalore looks as shown below:

Will post more pictures if I get a chance!

Inverted cone shaped buildings?? Really?
I really can’t imagine a office building like that. I guess I will have to wait and see! BTW, what’s the expected completion date?

Actually, it looks real cool. I have seen the floor plans too. 7 floors and each of the building can accommodate around 500 folks.
The building(s) would likely finish in 1 years time. may be by next November. But the official target set is very aggressive one. (July end/August time frame).
3 such buildings are supposed to come up in the 1st phase.

There are so many structures similar to this…looks great..and about yourproposed infy inverted cone structure building looks great …and it must be a steel structure. Construction is definately possible..

Has the construction of this campus already started? I heard infy has acquired more than 300 acres of land at Fajeer, Mangalore, So how many such buildings they plan to construct? Design is really a cool one.

We would do well to remember that all that glitters is not gold.
One only has to take a look at the Pyramid in Blr to think of the maintenance nightmare that these buildings will be - dull giltter from a distance, but layers of dust close-up.
1. These builidings will be a drain on the water resources of Mlr. Why can’t Infy go in for less “high-tech” and more eco-friendly designs?
2. If glass surfaces have to be used, why cant they be with inlaid solar cells. This is the cutting-edge technology where energy conservation and comfort of the inmates are both taken care of.
Infy seriously needs to rethink its design policy.
