Recently I had been to Mangalore and the journey was ceratinly not a memorable one. It took 12 hours to reach Mangalore via Mysore, Periapatna , KushalNagar and coorg in KSRTC Volvo bus.
I was told that Hassan route road was very bad and Volvo took a diversion. It was raining cats and dogs in mangalore till last week.
I returned back to Bangalore on 30th Sep and this time using Rajhamsa, leaving Mangalore at 1:30 pm via Hassan to reach back Bangalore at 1 AM . The road was very bad in Ghat section

Stayed 5 days in Mangalore and almost visited all the mangalore temples ( Dhasara time !) and Gokarna natha temple in particular was marvellous

Ummm ice creams at Ideal and Bappas was also good

I stayed very near to Kadri Manjunatha swamy temple

Overall good trip but still my back is aching for that horrible bus journey.

"Amphitheatre" is the word ! :)

yup. for non-mangalore folks, these rains are really too much. It rains non stop. Way too much. But the local people here are kind of used to it.

About the bus drivers... i guess it would be true in any part of india :D

Those rain dance parties used to be great! In fact, all those parties in Mangalore 'open-air-theater-area' (I forgot the word you guys use) used to be so much fun, I miss them!

Btw, of all things, I dislike rain in Mangalore. It rains way too much and the bus drivers (who don't care about other people on the road) make it worse! [Now only if I had car when I was in Mangalore, it would have been heaven. :)]
