  I am in search of Mile Sur Mera Tumara original video. On the net, i could find MIT version of it, but not the original one. Would be great if anyone can post it online!

  Interesting discussion…great to see that many people still like old serials of DD. now-a-days new channels are there but in my views our own old DD serils like Malgudi days,Bharat ek khoj,chankya,mirza ghalib and many more are very good…

  Hope that DD India alow these serials on CD/DVD ….

  anyway my hunt is still on for Bharat ek Khoj.In my view that was an excellent series on Indian History…If you guys find it please share with all of us..

  Do u have any other animation of that period. like simmi machli etc. Actually these are very nice for the kids. I remembered the days when I glued to the DD to see these animation and knowledgable cartoon. Now when I shown ek cheeriya to my daughter, She was very excited to see that and want to see again and again she is just one year old. :-)

  This song - Mile Sur Mera Tumhara really did work - Look at how many people are united of this, because of this. Love the piece and love the post. My coming here was also a by product of trying to find:
  - Hanuman - A new animation movie in India (Should be fun to watch our own Superman :-))
  and henceforth the mind leading to Malgudi Days DVD search….

  I wonder why Doordarshan is not thinking of making money on digitising all those great programs. We would love to cherish those memories and pay credit to the righfully creative.

  oh man !!! DD times…. those were the amazing times..
  I frequently travel down this memory lane whenever i see blank audio tapes… this is awesome !!! gr8 to see so many ppl sharing those magic times… and thanks a zillion for those files…

  I have been looking for a lot of these, since ages now…
  I cherish the childhood days “Giant Robot”, “He-Man”, “Streek Hawk”, “Stone boy”, “Malgudi days” and the later days’ -

  Fauji, Udaan
  Neenv (college hostel) -

  These had great songs too…

  Oh, how bout those inspiration series, similar to mile sur mera tumhaara, like the one that starts with - “Aao chale… ” ?
  Also, those patriotism ones like the one which had short dialogues like - “europ, amerika tho ghoomne kaamne ke liye teek hain, lekin ijjat ki life, nothing like India…”

  Talking about dd gems -

  Does anyone remember the name of that new sitcom of pankaj kapur ? that literary based, all grown ups in a class, that was fun tooo…

  Lots of other nice, clean shows come to my mind -
  surabhi
  kathaa saagar
  himaalay darshan

  Oh, and Subaah (first tv serial on drugs) and that creepy one
  Khile ki Rahasya, the thriller ones like Honee Anhonee…

  Any kannada ppl out there ? remember those short ones on saving trees ?? and of course, the patriotism ones… they were so simple, yet so effective…

  Aargh !! whenever I find my old cassettes, i despise myself… me & my brother (praveen) used to have this habit of recording the first & last title song/music of these awesome tv shows… and due to lack of extra blank casettes, we would overwrite other music (like other tv ads, radio shows etc) on the same tape….. how i wish i saved those tapes…. i’m now dying to find even 2 minutes trail of these…

  Just like Malgudi Days, Chanakya, I so much hope those other great tv shows too come out on VCD/DVDs - atleast “Bhaarat Ek Khoj” …

  Well it was really a pleasant journey reading this page indeed which lead me back into golden childhood and gave remembrance of golden Doordarshan.

  I prefer the old Doordarshan and rate it best than any channel in world right now.

  Well in due course of reading each comment I downloaded lots of mp3 and video. Well this was nice feeling for me. I really loved this and I know that I will enjoy litsening this forever.

  iam sure all these beautiful serials and songs tell us that old is gold. Those days were the true moments to cherish life and be content of what we have with us. During the era of 80’s and 90’s Dordarshan did a massive work in spreading a message of love and peace all around our india. The serials were made to give a message to masses.
  Today the story is entriely different everyone just keeps on begging for sending SMS and make money and all we see on Television are dumb stupid advertisements. Sometime i wonder whether iam watching a news channel or a add tv or sometimes a Sass aur babu Bull***. Each and every channel wants to rob and beg for money by asking us to send SMS or start some stupid talent hunt. We can see that their is no difference between street beggers and these tv celeb. It would be more appropiate if they can carry a nice “KATORA” so that it would suit their activities.
  Anyways love life our indian spirit and jai Hind.

  webmallindia.com is a great site I found. Finally was able to locate “Ek Doctor Ki Maut” on VCD!!!!

  By the way the Malgudi Days 2 DVD set that has been released only contains 13 episodes. The whole Swami series is missing and many others. But it still is a gem!!!
  Jungle Book (old cartoon show) is also on VCD now.

  all this while i was running behind american sitcoms like friends , everybody loves raymonds. but this blog reminded me of the golden tv shows on doordarshan. titles like mullah nasruddin, tenaliram, malgudi days, byomkesh bakshi (the list just goes on ) brought a smile on my face. i wish i could relive those moments when everything was pure and magical. is there any way we can get the torrents to these shows? please let me know…

  Tears came to my eyes while going thru this site….and to know there are still humans (Indians) who love India and the good old days. Many a times I regret how we have left all good things behind in our rat race…

  I wish I could sit all day and watch those DD serials and go back to my childhood. I know I have lost it. So when I listen to Ek Titli, Mile sur, Baje Sargam, Spiderman title track(cartoon), Malgudi days, Mahabharat,….in solitude I back track to those years when we really didn’t care about the next promotion or salary hike, the new model of a car being launched or for that matter anything so much material.

  Sunday was a day to look forward to with Mahabharat, Mr Ya Mrs, Friday evenings with Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi…

  [...] Talking of comics, remembered this cartoon animated filler on DD. You can hardly find anyone of my generation who has not seen the “Ek Anek aur Ektha” animated movie. It was a short animation film targeted at National integration and was used as filler by DD at that time and, thanks to the fact that satellite TV wasn’t even there, was immensely popular. Other DD fillers that are popular to this day (not aired) are Mile sur mera tumhara, Baje Sargam (It featured both celebrity and the common man alike) and the one showing us not to spread Rumours. There were a couple of National integration songs made by Kannada DD like “Navellaru onde jaathi” and “Molagali Molagali” featuring most actors of serials and a few film stars like Vishnuvardhan, Bharathi, Sundara Krishna Urs and Shivaram. I had almost given up my search for the original video for Mile Sur, but decided to give one last resource a try. And man oh man was I delighted!!   one thing is that we fondly remember dd still today and its programmes even today and today`s cable channels are not a match for it………like they all surely say OLD IS GOLD…….

  I watched one episode on SATR PLUS, last Saturday (24.03.2007). It finished at 1:05 PM. I think it starts at 12:30PM.

  its amazing how a single thought of a single person got so many people together, people who share almost the same memories of childhood, of summer vacations, sundays, evenings after school. I think if all the people who commented on the blog would meet at single place someday, 24 hours of continuous talks would be less to share everything that we saw on dd and the way we felt about it. Love ya guys, i felt like crying, anyways i remember everything from nukkad, to mahabharat and from kashish to kathasaagar, from sigma, to he man and from gayab aaya to potli baba ki. I loved those days and that dd. I must say the cable and this Ekta kapoor spoilt everything, and we see nothing but jealousy and fights.

  and yes if anyone has the title song of sanjha chulha (starring rama vij, had something like shukar rabba sanjha chulha jalda) and ghutan (starring renuka shahane) and majhdar ( zindagi majhdhar main behti naav hai) plz tell me.

  Hey, do u remember the old cartoon clip where one guy comes and digs the ground, someone else comes and plant a seed, then another waters it. The plant grows to a huge tree. Then slowly birds start coming and living on the tree and at last everybody sings. It was a very nice music. I was very very young when it came on DD. I just remember faintly. Do you remember it?

  when i was a kid, i would find the ek chidiya song annoying.. who talked like that! but now i feel so nostalgic!
  If Doordarshan had the slightest sense it would issue a lot of those serials on DVD, I would buy at least a dozen of different titles, from Buniyad, to Mullah Nasiruddin to Kachee Dhoop

  I am surprised, no one has spoken about serials like ‘Hum Log’, ‘Buniyaad’, Shanti, Manoranjan, Hasratein, Humrahi, Honi-Anhoni, etc. One thing you all will agree, that even though we hate DD so much after the invasion of Satellite Channels, there were some channels which we can never forget in our life. Remember how the roads used to be empty during Ramayan and Mahabarat? The only entertainment for us was the bow and arrow fights…lol. When we watched at those times, we used to bet which arrow will be more powerful.

  Hi Friends,

  I just felt that I am reading about my own childhood days!!! U have narrated it absolutely fantastic. Every bit of it made me
  remember my good old days. This blog has given me so many like minded souls who feel good and nostalgic about good ol days of our innocence .. i really cherished reading out all and i would like to know if people are still active on the blog..??

  We had a Dyanora B/W which had a shutter (I used to have fun opening and closing it over and over again) and ya! Sunday mornings
