ICICI Bank – A bad experience for many

I had only verbally heard about the bad experiences people are having with ICICI Bank, but this just proves it!
Came across this page (do read it! – opens in a new window) via madman’s page.
I have a account with ICICI bank because its our salary account, and we are kind of forced to use ICICI Bank. And since we have a salary account, we get a decent service. But yes, the credit card department, and the call centre sucks big time. That’s my personal experience.
They put you on hold for 5 to 10 mins. (just imagine listening to the same junk music/tone/adverts continuously), and then there is no guarantee that you will get to speak to someone or your problem would be solved. Infact, today I was put on hold for around 7 mins, and after that the call as abruptly disconnected!. Next time I call the call center, I get to speak to a totally new person, and start from scrap describing the problem. The people at the call center just promise to do things, and nothing actually happens. If it happens, then you are really your luck.

My advice to all – Avoid ICICI as far as possible. Many people predict that the bank would collapse in a few years from now. Have a account with any nationalized bank.
Personally, I have an account with SBI and keep a minimum amount in ICICI.

Hi All,
I don’t know if this is correct place, however I would still post my issue since ‘ICICI’ plays
a role.
I applied for a Car (Chevrolet) Loan via ICICI. The loan amount was a mere 3.2L. I submitted
over 100 xerox copies of documents, my past 2.5 years of employment papers, this n that.
Where am I stuck? The person from ICICI (or the agency ICICI hires) went to the WRONG address
for my verification. Now, I’m single and I stay alone. Where I live, it has been over 2.5 years
and everyone knows me in the building for obvious reasons. The verification guy went to the
wrong address and marked my FI as negative. I re-requested it and this time he entered the
wrong address again! I assisted him in going to the correct address, and again he marked me as
negative! I verified from every neighbor in my building, all of them were away to work. And the
comments that this guy put in his notes everytime was
“The guy has left the building 2 days ago”
Now,
1) When first time, he entered the wrong place, how could he write “I left 2 days ago”? (even
if I did leave)!!
2) Howcome he wrote the same damn comment AGAIN when he entered the same address
My question to ICICI persons:
1) Are these persons your own? These so called uneducated and absolutely lunatic people
2) If not, then they are from some agency that you hire. What is your criteria for making a
contract with an agency for the verification process? Or do you have none at all?
3) On what basis, are these persons given information for verification?
or is this just some “layman’s work” or some “jugaad” thing keeping which in mind does ICICI
hire/employ agency/persons for the verification process?
I have taken a leave today, in spite of urgent work, sitting back home like a stupid person,
and finding EVERY SITE on which I can tell people, what ICICI does!
No matter what comes to this country, the service is as bad as a road-side dhaba. And its
painful to see, ICICI BANK is no damn different!
Thanks ICICI, these are the reasons why people from outside laugh at India and its services.
Forget them, I am laughing myself to be a part of the country where a bank like ICICI truly
harasses people and kills their time n money for nothing at all!

Really ICICI Banking is very Headache process and they are worlds no1 Fraud bank . We cant do any thing againast as Frauds are always stronger then normal people they know each and every way to escape. Only one solution is to close ICICI Bank Accounts . and better to go for any Govt Banks even if govt banks process is little bit slow but you can save your money and low interest @ Loans. Already im seeing hell with this ICICI Bank. Friends Lets start a Web site with ICICI Complaints . so atleast remaining people will be safe . lets save our india from icici bank .

shiity bank on this earth icici bank takes 1 and half month to open a bank account you can imagine how faster their services are ..this is for the first time ans |SAS nagar mohali punjab branch is worst among those submitted documents multiple times but account get never opened thts how this bank works shittiest bank on this earth never go for it forces people to get loans lie to people force them to pay interest when they get stuck this is how this bank work i need to wait every month for my own salary becoz of this shittiest bank

I am a NRI customer of ICICI Bank for more than 10 years.
I have been struggling with ICICI bank’s inefficiencies for the last many years and would like to went my grievances.
I feel ICICI bank is just an Inward banking institution and hold on to our money whichever way it can. It is easy to send the money to the bank. However, ICICI bank gives its NRI customers the worst exchange rate for the dollars we send, which I am sure makes money for them..
Since the past 10 days I have been trying to send money to a Non ICICI bank account using the online feature. In this process I have locked out my transaction password 2 times. I feel ICICI has developed and programmed their website in an ingenious way.
I use a high speed internet connection at my home as well as at my office from where I do most of my banking. I can access all other websites including the secured ones. All pages on the ICICI bank websites also work fine except when we have to register a NON ICICI bank account as payee or transfer funds to a non ICICI bank account. The Page freezes, Times me out, kicking you out, or gives a “Application Setup error”. It will however, not let me take out money from my account.
The Fund transfer option to move funds from my account to a ICICI bank account has no problem.
I am an able bodied Chartered Accountant who is fast with the Keyboard and has a very fast internet connection. I feel pity for all the ICICI account holders who do not have a stable or slow internet connection or who are senior citizens not too fast with their actions with the mouse and keyboard. I am sure they will be banging their head with frustration for not being able to meet the ICICI banks website policy of completing all actions within a few seconds before being timed out very conveniently.
I feel this is a conspiracy by ICICI to prevent their customers from accessing their funds at their convenience.
On top of this when I try to log in or use my transaction password to complete the transaction to move the funds 20 times in a few hours due to being timed out every few minutes, I surly enter one or more password characters incorrectly. ICICI bank web site very very conveniently locks me out of my account. To seek a new password I have to send a request which takes 7 business days to complete before I can access my funds again. To top it all, ICICI bank charges me a fee with service tax to provide me with a new password. I am sick and tired of hearing that this is a security for my funds with ICICI.
I sincerely hope that someone in ICICI bank of the banking regulatory authority will take note of my complaint and arrange for the time out issue to resolved to increase the time limit from 15 seconds to at least 5 minutes so that the process can be completed. The information required by the web pages for account #s Name of beneficiaries, amount etc etc require a fair amount of input which cannot be provided in a few seconds when the copy paste commands have been disabled by ICICI banks website.

I am surprised seeing so many ICICI related issues, i should have seen this blog before taking a loan from ICICI. I also have a very bad experience. I guess like we have Water Tanker Mafia, Land Mafia in the same way ICICI is promoting Recovery Mafia! for the last few months i have been calling, emailing, visiting ICICI JB Nagar Branch (Loan Head Office) for a solution explaining my difficulty in paying my loan back in one big instalment as due to delayed salary but till date there was no solution forwarded.Meantime they are just adding interest over interest so that my amount in the system become so high creating an opportunity for recovery agents. I guess ICICI does not want loyal customers but more of recovery agents and defaulter customers.
my Case goes as below:letter sent to ICICI customer Care describing my genuine case and the number of times i have been pressurised by these recovery agents, given wrong commitment but still the loan amount just keeping on increasing day by day!

I am not getting my salary in time and hence my installment payment was irregular. In jan 2010 I received a call from Mr.Khalid (9322870319) and Shetty (9867888994) of ICICI informing my total outstanding and if I can pay in Cash or DD by Jan 30th an amount of Rs.58620 he can do a settlement. He informed that he has spoken to his manager Mr.Shetty who was also informed about this case and he has got a sanction for the same. I explained my situation and he informed that this is the best he can do for me due to month ending I take this opportunity and close this loan. I approached a money lender and took this amount at higher percentage and deposited by Jan 30th 2010 for which I received an ICICI receipt. I asked him for a settlement letter on which he informed that once this amount reflect in my account I will get a letter from ICICI directly. In March I received a call from ICICI stating that my loan is still not closed and I have to pay. I informed the above details and I was informed that I better visit the JB Nagar branch which I did. The customer care executive informed after detailed discussion that the best solution is to apply for foreclosure and I will get settlement amount. I request for an year installment period to settle but the customer care executive informed that once the settlement amount comes the max the bank can give is 6 months installment. Around March end I got a call from Mr.Nishant he told he is from ICICI JB Nagar branch (9819776405) and the settlement amount have come to 1 lac and hence I have to pay Rs.16600 1st installment. On calculation for 6 months this installment it comes to around 1 lac. I informed him to get me the settlement letter on which he informed that on clearance of the 1st cheque I will get a letter from ICICI requesting for the 5 PDC and ICICI executive will be there to collect it. After assurance from this ICICI executive I handed over the cheque and cleared this amount. On April 21st Seema (9819711169) called and informed that there is a short payment of Rs.4410 which I have to pay to get the settlement letter and per installment will be Rs.15915.00 and 5 PDC’s as ICICI now has 5 instalment settlement. Again this amount was also cleared as I wanted to close this issue as fast possible as it was taking lot of my time and it was hindering my work and performance in the company due to which my salary was also getting hindered.
28th May I have again got a call from Neha and Sania and after updating my previous experiences Sania informed she will talk to her manager and close this issue. 4th June I received a call from Sania of ICICI and informed that she has spoken to her manager and visit ICICI JB Nagar branch and she will get the settlement letter and I can hand over the 5 PDC @ Rs.15915. I visited ICICI JB Branch in the afternoon and met with Mr.Shailesh and he informed there was nobody in ICICI by that name and to hand over the cheque only after I receive the settlement letter of the said amount or in ICICI JB Nagar branch in front of ICICI customer care executives sitting over there. Thereafter this email was sent to ICICI customer care and the latest update is ICICI customer care has informed to pay 1.70 Lac one time or max 3 installment! They if i dont accept then again i can call collection dept.! It is so funny that here i am ready to pay in smaller instalment and clear the actual loan not the excess late charges, interest etc but ICICI is building a case for the recovery Dept.! I really fell there is some internal arrangement between the bank and recovery agents or may be it is business to show losses or some thing which the common people will never understand.
Nationalised Banks see the person feelings, capability, genuineness, go that extra mile to help etc etc hence they are more successful in India and ICICI goes by the computer that they have and the data they have. Hence you can see more of suicides happens more of people taken loan from private Bank If anybody wants to get sick, have family issue, want to become a non performer in life i suggest you Bank with ICICI. There is one more thing to be noted how much man hours get wasted in India due to such event also only if i am free of these tension can i perform better and make more money and clear faster.
Can anybody forward a solution.

Very true, extremely frustrated with poor banking manners of ICICI bank customer service personnals.. they dont know what the customer is asking for, when explained they will give some stupid answers, and the most favourite answer is that their application is down may be more than half of the times.. it’s not long before they are going to loose customers.. pretty soon that will happen… now I prefer citibank for all my transactions.. even heard HSBC is doing good.. I had a credit card from them and got very good service till the end.. ICICI – please don’t forget, you are not the only one in the market.. there are many more…. our experiences will definitely ripple down to all… pretty soon…
