ICICI Bank – A bad experience for many
April 27th, 2005 at 10:16pm
I had only verbally heard about the bad experiences people are having with ICICI Bank, but this just proves it!
Came across this page (do read it! – opens in a new window) via madman’s page.
I have a account with ICICI bank because its our salary account, and we are kind of forced to use ICICI Bank. And since we have a salary account, we get a decent service. But yes, the credit card department, and the call centre sucks big time. That’s my personal experience.
They put you on hold for 5 to 10 mins. (just imagine listening to the same junk music/tone/adverts continuously), and then there is no guarantee that you will get to speak to someone or your problem would be solved. Infact, today I was put on hold for around 7 mins, and after that the call as abruptly disconnected!. Next time I call the call center, I get to speak to a totally new person, and start from scrap describing the problem. The people at the call center just promise to do things, and nothing actually happens. If it happens, then you are really your luck.
Hope K V Kamath reads this!.
My advice to all – Avoid ICICI as far as possible. Many people predict that the bank would collapse in a few years from now. Have a account with any nationalized bank.
Personally, I have an account with SBI and keep a minimum amount in ICICI.

This Laxman Khetani , Mahesh Khetani and Kamlesh Khetani r frauds and big cheaters. They take loan from respective banks and dont pay them for ages. There r many cases going on the above three frauds. They have also cheated their own family members. They give bribe to many officers and delay their cases etc.all the above properties r in fued so i request every bank managers not to provide them a single loan regarding the above mentioned properties. Will keep updating about them more furthur…..By the way we should take some very serious action against all the above three frauds as soon as possible.

Most of the comments posted above are true. I had a run down and big fight for one fraud charges on my credit card for about six months. It was horrible and heart breaking experience. I am earning Rs.16Laksh/Annum and the fight went only for ~Rs.1K I could have paid that , if I have done the transaction. So many calls and so many online follow-ups to get that revert back done. The unprofessional behaviour made me forced to get rid of their credit card. I am happy to use my another credit card with another bank which has decent credit limit and purchase limit. Customer care is really taking care of customers, unlike ICICI.
I took home loan and I am really feeling bad about it. I started of with 9% and now somewhere around 13% I am paying. Probably could have stayed in rented house, rather paying such a big interest.
The worst part of them is customer care. You have to call and live in queue for about 10-20 mins before you could speak to any customer care person. As someone mentioned in the comments above “They are piece of junk jokers”. I really feel bad for them too. Working for such a shit company and getting shit out of many frustrated and cheated customers.

August 2008 I opened a 0ne year HiSave fixed account for the first 4 monthes I visited the web site to see what my hard earn cash was making and the interested rate of 7.2% had been paid into my account. I thought although my cash was tied up for the 12 months my cash was “safe” a month after the 12 month period was over I revisited the web site and found that no interest had been payed into my account since March of this year
I phoned to enquire what was going on the woman whom I spoke to told me that I never had a “fix rate account” I told her that indeed I have and pointed out that I had beemn paid interest at 7.2% for the first few months. She put me on hold until she got more info.
She then told me that I had changed my account in December to an ordinary savings account, at this time she did not say that I had not had a “fixed rate account” I said to her “why would I change my account to earn less interest.?” She said nothing could be done so I said I wanted to lodge a complaint.
How can a business what should be beyond approach do something as blatent as this.

I was holding a saving bank account with ICICI Vikaspuri New Delhi Branch which I recently closed due to the unethical practice of of the bank to impose there terms and conditions on customer.
I had got two Pay Order issued from my account on 13-05-09 of Rs 610/- each ( No’s135501 and 135502) to pay demand from my housing society.
The drafts were misplaced by my Society office , which I came to know on 25th August 09 , so by the time the 3 months validity of drafts was over, so I approached my branch to cancel the drafts and give due credit to my account. But they told that without phyical instrument they can not cancel the drafts so they need to issue duplicate drafts before cancelling it
And the branch told me to provide one Indemnity Bond on 100/- Stamp Paper and a NOC from Society , I provided them all the required papers on 27th August 2009 and they told me to come back in 2-3 days.
I went back to branch on 31st August and they had given me two duplicate drafts and I asked themthat i need these to be cancelled , then they told me that they can not cancel the duplicate drafts and I have to wait for another 3 months till the duplicate drafts get expire.
So I refused to accept the duplicate drafts and asked them why this has not been informed to me in advance , so the baranch staff keep argusing with each other and kept me waiting for 1 hr as nobody was confidient of their bank rules and procedures.
Afteer one Hour when I asked them that how long shouldI wait, I was been told to get account closed if not satisfied by their services.
Now finally on 16th Sep 09 after opening a new account with Stan Chart and shifting my EMI’s to new account I given them the request to close the account which they acceptedand the account closed
Now on 03 Oct I got confirmation letter from Bank for closing of account accompnied with a cheque of Paise 0.09 but they have eatan the draft amounts and nither they refunded the darfat amount nor given me the duplicate drafts which they had issued.
So this way they claim to be customer friendly bank .
Shame………..

ICICI Bank is a cheat of the highest order. New loans they are giving at 8.75% (average) floating rate and for existing customers it is 11-11.5% . Think of transfering your hoam loan to some other bank. Many banks will give you much better rate. Just ask around. Even if you pay some penalty to ICICI for closing the loan account you guys will be better off. Other banks are not that much marketing savvy ; which ICICI bank is. This we should accept. Go for a nationalised bank and they will surely give good rates. ICICI Bank keeps harping ” hum hain naa” ( to f**k your happiness) .
