ICICI Bank – A bad experience for many
April 27th, 2005 at 10:16pm
I had only verbally heard about the bad experiences people are having with ICICI Bank, but this just proves it!
Came across this page (do read it! – opens in a new window) via madman’s page.
I have a account with ICICI bank because its our salary account, and we are kind of forced to use ICICI Bank. And since we have a salary account, we get a decent service. But yes, the credit card department, and the call centre sucks big time. That’s my personal experience.
They put you on hold for 5 to 10 mins. (just imagine listening to the same junk music/tone/adverts continuously), and then there is no guarantee that you will get to speak to someone or your problem would be solved. Infact, today I was put on hold for around 7 mins, and after that the call as abruptly disconnected!. Next time I call the call center, I get to speak to a totally new person, and start from scrap describing the problem. The people at the call center just promise to do things, and nothing actually happens. If it happens, then you are really your luck.
Hope K V Kamath reads this!.
My advice to all – Avoid ICICI as far as possible. Many people predict that the bank would collapse in a few years from now. Have a account with any nationalized bank.
Personally, I have an account with SBI and keep a minimum amount in ICICI.

I own ICICI Creditcared. In Jan’09, on 14.01.09 i found they have deducted EMI for an amount which was not used. Please see the details below:
A transaction for Railway ticket was done on 14.12.09 through EMI gateway and same was cancelled on 14.12.08 and the refund from IRCTC for cancelled ticket was credited into account on 17.12.08. This was confirmed as per message below from Accounts manager:

But when they send the statement of Dec they intelligently did not show the credit and on 14.01.09, they have charged EMI for a cancelled Transaction for which refund is credited into the account. As I have read many times they appear to be cheats in banking sector to make easy profits and money if a customer does not keep vigil.

Delhi has a date with the courts today
Nirnimesh Kumar
A hundred paperless Lok Adalats lined up to settle 1.1 lakh default cases online
NEW DELHI: Thousands of credit card defaulters of ICICI Bank will get a rare opportunity this Sunday to settle their long-pending check bouncing cases and recovery suits at a series of paperless “Lok Adalats” being held at five district courts here in the Capital.
Defaulters eager to settle their cases with the bank need not carry their case files; they can even opt for a district court of their choice; and they will not be required to appear before the regular court where the cases are at present pending for the final proceedings.
All this has been made possible by a unique initiative taken by the Delhi Legal Services Authority in technical collaboration with the bank. What is unusual about these Lok Adalats is that there will be no use of papers at all to settle the cases; all the proceedings will be conducted online.
There are a whopping 1.1 lakh cases pending in different lower courts across the Capital which are likely to be taken up for disposal to the satisfaction of the bank and the accused. The bank has been advertising the joint initiative on FM radios, in newspapers and through roadside hoardings and buntings for the past one week. More than 40,000 customers of the bank have already contacted the bank’s call centre regarding their cases.
According to the Project Officer of the Legal Services Authority, Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjay Sharma, 15 Lok Adalats will function at the Patiala House courts, 25 at the Karkardooma courts and 20 each at the Tis Hazari, Dwarka and Rohini district courts. So, in all, a hundred courts would be hearing these cases on a single day.
Each district court will have ten computerised counters to provide relevant data to the Lok Adalats on request by the accused.
The defaulters will only need to tell their credit card or case number to the men at the counters and they will retrieve their details and forward them online to the Lok Adalats.
There will be a separate counter on each district court campus for senior citizens, women and physically-challenged persons.
Each Lok Adalat will have a presiding officer, an associate member who will be a senior member of the bar and a senior officer of the bank. The bank officer will be carrying a laptop fed with all the details of the 1.1 lakh cases.
The bank has already fed all the relevant data of these case into the computers installed at the district courts. The bank has also provided computers and printers to the Authority besides the technical support.
The defaulters can appear before any of the Lok Adalats to settle their cases, depending upon the proximity of their residence to the district court or their convenience. There will also be no movement of case files, and the defaulters will also have to travel less thanks to the online proceedings.
On settlement of their disputes, the accused will not have to visit the courts concerned as orders of the Lok Adalats will be forwarded online to these courts, Mr. Sharma told The Hindu on Saturday.
Justice Arijit Pasayat of the Supreme Court will inaugurate the Lok Adalats at the Patiala House courts premises in the presence of Delhi High Court Chief Justice A. P. Shah.

Now check this out……recently one of the icici prulife manager got my lead.He was trying to sell me insurance.First time i agreed and i took a insurance cover from icici which was packed with mutual funds too.
but here is the main story….that guy from that day started hounding my daughter. He knows my address and since then i can see him crossing my house at least once a day.My daughter and neighbors also noticed this and complained it to the local manager but till date there has been no action.Instead he has become more aggressive and now he evens gives blank calls.
Now i am going to report this to the police and take this case as a mental harassment and stalking case. Also i will be informing the regional head of icici prulife….if that matters and if he can do anything about it.
I will get everyone who is responsible for this. Why cant icici hire good ethical people. Why do they have to get crooks as agents and managers.I come from a very respectable and influential family and i will use all my powers and political influence and get this guy behind bars and also file a complaint with the consumer court. As it is from seeing this site i can very well gauge how bad the reputation of icici is this will just put one more case into their story of incompetence and professionalism for the whole world to see.
this is probably the worst form of harassment which i have seen and heard.

Eventhouth all 8 out of 36 due instalments were paid, even with penalty for one or two days delay, the bank seized my motor cycle without any notice; from company’s work shop where it was lying for more than 40 days from 13-1-06 for spares not readily available with company for this March.05 model new vehicle with manufacturing defect sold to me in April.05; without heeding my repeated requests to provide alternative good vehicle The AP Consumer Commission ordered the ICICI Bank to pay Rs.25,000/-., compensation with Rs.5,000/-., costs within 4 weeks; attracting 9% interest thereafter (judgement D/-23-01-09 in FA.1471/07)

icici bank fabricated a notice under date 7-2-06 and in collusion with postal staff affixed postal seal fraudulently to indicate that they issued notice before seizure of vehicle on 25-2-06 from company’s workshopb where it was lying since 13-1-06 for spares from their factory; for which the CBI is moved to prosecute the bank & postal staff and hence everybody should be vigilent in dealing with this desperate & mischievous bank

icici bank filed written affidavit before district consumer forum.II hyderabad stating that no ledger is maintained in the bank to indicate details of amounts of vehicle cost paid to company with date and details of other amounts(other than instalment payments)derived by sale of repossed vehicle to third parties; in the loanee bank customer’s account; and therefore the Reserve Bank,Mumbai is moved to take stringent action against the bank for its admission in writing about this glaring ommission and we have to wait and see that the RBI staff under the present able Governor Mr.Subbarao are not silenced by bribery; for such glaring ommission.

There is no fun even writing to Head Service Quality as well. My case is 8 months long and I have been following hard to get it resolved. I had a very long relationship with the bank spanning for more than 4 years with 2 credit cards, 1 Auto Loan, 2 Personal Loans and 1 Savings Bank Account. The bank states that it has a welcome kit which states that ” ICICI Bank may, without notice, combine or consolidate the standing balance on the Card Account with any other account(s) which the Card member maintains with ICICI Bank, and set-off or transfer money standing to the credit of such other account(s) in or towards the satisfaction of the card member’s liability to ICICI Bank under his/her card account.”. Now this book never came to me. Also I never signed any paper which gives bank the right to deduct my savings bank account for 20,000 INR which is under dispute and the matter itself is being looked into by the bank. Now the case story is that I instructed the bank in may 2008 not to allow any overlimit transactions for my ICICI Bank Credit Card. The executive confirmed it and I payed up the dues for the month of April in which overlimit charges were levied. The executive confirmed me that these charges will be reversed in my next billing cycle. No such thing was done and later when I got the bill for the month of June 2008, there was one more overlimit charges and that was the start of closing my relationship with the bank. And to my amazement there was not even the overlimit in the month of June. I started following up with the bank but ti no avail. I stopped making payments and instructed them to settle these transactions otherwise you will keep on carrying them and I will keep on filling the Bank’s pocket with no fault of mine. The Bank, or I would refrain from using the word Bank, it was so called designated agencies of bank, in october send in two local goons to collect the money but the society guards accompanied them so that they cannot make any hassles. They went away stating that we will make sure that your bank account will be blocked. In the mean time I kept following up with the bank but to no avail. I had to travel to Delhi for my wife’s operation in November End. I got her admitted in the hospital and the moment I went to bank’s atm to withdraw money for the initial deposit, my heart almost sank. My savings account had no money at all. Not even a single call from the bank that your savings bank account is being debited for this purpose. Wow thats you call up a fantastic customer service ” Hum Hai Na”. I arranged the money from some of my friends and immediately deposited the money with the hospital. 2 days later I decided that I will take up the issue with the bank i.e. on Nov 26th. And since that day I have almost more than 35-40 communications with the bank but to no avail. I also tried to follow the escalation matrix but to no avail. Finally my mail got to Head Service Quality and even with them I am following up since Jan 20th but to no avail. So this is the kind of service you expect from Bank. I do have bank accounts with other couple of Banks as well like CitiBank, SBI but never faced this type of irresponsible behaviour. They are day time robbers. I know the story is long but if I can take that much pain to write such a long incident you guys must have understood that how much pain i have gone through and have to go through.
Apart from this big time default, there has been many cases wherein bank on its own deducts for ECS Bounce which has never been authorised. Keeps the money with them for almost a month and then return backs half the amount stating that there was a mistake at their end. Who is going to pay up the interest and the reimbursement for the mental trauma which I have gone through. The money in savings bank is kept for the purpose of safety but with ICICI be assured your money is not in safe hands. This deduction of ECS Bounce charges might have occurred with many a people and I am sure the bank has certainly invested that money in financial markets to make a merry out of that and later returned the principal amount stating that it was a mistake at their end. The only good thing about the bank is their website, rest everything needs to be aligned up.
I have already forwarded the request stating closure of all my relationships with the bank but even for that I don’t know how much I have to follow.

all news papers in AP were requested under acknowledgement to publish in their daily issues the public interest matter of direction to icici bank to pay Rs.25,000/-.,compensation with Rs.5,000/-.,costs to me as per state consumer commission indicated in my comment Nos.925 to 927 but all of them colluded with bank with ulterior motives and remained silent giving scope to country’s citizen to doubt their integrity in such important matters which tantamounts to abatement of brutalities on indian citizen by icici bank already facing three pronged public resentment in as many as 929 public comments.
