ICICI Bank – A bad experience for many
April 27th, 2005 at 10:16pm
I had only verbally heard about the bad experiences people are having with ICICI Bank, but this just proves it!
Came across this page (do read it! – opens in a new window) via madman’s page.
I have a account with ICICI bank because its our salary account, and we are kind of forced to use ICICI Bank. And since we have a salary account, we get a decent service. But yes, the credit card department, and the call centre sucks big time. That’s my personal experience.
They put you on hold for 5 to 10 mins. (just imagine listening to the same junk music/tone/adverts continuously), and then there is no guarantee that you will get to speak to someone or your problem would be solved. Infact, today I was put on hold for around 7 mins, and after that the call as abruptly disconnected!. Next time I call the call center, I get to speak to a totally new person, and start from scrap describing the problem. The people at the call center just promise to do things, and nothing actually happens. If it happens, then you are really your luck.
Hope K V Kamath reads this!.
My advice to all – Avoid ICICI as far as possible. Many people predict that the bank would collapse in a few years from now. Have a account with any nationalized bank.
Personally, I have an account with SBI and keep a minimum amount in ICICI.

ICICI is going for some big frauds, I recently tried to open an account from them, and i saw some false documents being submitted for me. Like some attested copies of some fakke documents with my name and signatures, I was so petrified by that, I decided to close my account.
ICICI is a fraud company , a fraud bank. I mailed all the pics and supporting proofs of all the fake and illegal documents submitted for me. Even then there was no proper response from the bank. They even like to disturb their customers in the name of policy change.
I even forward the mail to headservicequality@icicibank.com , Office of Head Service Quality ICICI Bank.Still no go… I will never recomend anyone to go for such bank, they can do anything for their meagre profit. It is a company following illegal policies, our money is not safe here..

Hi All,
I have been using ATMs since the time; the only ATM in Delhi was with Citi Bank – at their CP Branch. This is just to set the background for the story. In brief : I am familiar with various makes of ATM machines.
Near our office in New Delhi — Rajendra Place, there is an ATM in such ramshackle condition that you won’t believe. The entire plastic face plate is hanging with a sutli (twine) . The buttons don’t actually don’t correspond with the display on the screen. Place where you insert the card is such that you have to really poke the card at several places then it is taken in slighly. After that the machine makes a lot of noise then the card goes in reluctantly, after pausing for a few moments
Yesterday I had horror of all horrors… I put in my card; did the amount/password etc etc and the machine kept on counting cash for more than a minute. Later on there was the distinct sound which indicates that the shutter for cash dispenser has opened.
Now what had happened was that the shutter had opened from one side and not from the other. Just a few Rs 500 notes were showing … I panicked and lifted the unopened part with my fingers. Just as I removed the last of the currency notes. the shutter of ATM cash dispenser locked.
I counted the cash. It was in order though. I was the one who used to smirk at people counting and recounting cash inside ATM. Now I am wisened. In India and with ICICI any thing is possible.
There is a good article in the Readers digest last month or last to last…. I forget. This kind of thing — tampering with the cash window has been observed.
But with ICICI any thing is possible. Even the people working or loading the ATMs are suspects.
A piece of advice: Always count the cash in ICICI bank.. even if guys like me are waiting outside.. waiting for their turn.
I really think that I am I am going to take a 12inch screw driver next time…if I do use it ever again; and jam it in the cash window. The machine is fucked any way. The bloody thing running on a 386 PC. :))
I came out and told the guard, the looked up from his news paper and then went back to reading it again.
—–
In another ICICI bank ATM — I was waiting for my turn. I told the guard you shouldn’t let anyone with a full face helmet operate the ATM… like the gentin ahead of me was doing How will the face be visible to the camera. His reply ” Arrey saab… camera toh pichley teen mahiney sey kharab pada hai. ” Like Bank — Like guards. :)))))

ICICI Bank,
Please refer to your recent letter to me (another pre-dated one), and the Hon Banking Ombudsman’s orders. You mentioned in your letter that RBI or Hon Banking Ombudsman has not specified under what corporate scheme the new net ROI should be applied to my account in the BO Award.
The Hon BO’s Orders have clearly mentioned in the Award, that the terms of the loan sanction to be maintained while re-computing interest for my loan account. Please read the copy of RBI orders on http://www.geocities.com/pparag/bo-award.pdf)
I did not find in the Award letter anywhere that RBI has allowed you to change my loan scheme from corporate to general category while recomputing my account with new net ROI. You cannot arbitrarily change the loan scheme under which the loan was sanctioned, while re-computing the net ROI charged to my account.
Despite this, you re-computed the net ROI under a different scheme than the scheme under which the loan was sanctioned, and applied arbitrary net ROI during arbitrarily selected periods. Isnt this a violation of the RBI / Ombudsman’s orders.
Further, the BO Award clearly mentions that the net ROI applied to my account shall _not_ be higher than net ROI offered to other customers linked to FRR. I can provide you several loan account numbers and enough proof that the net ROI applied to my account is higher than net ROI offered to other borrowers linked to FRR. You have, thus, not complied with the Hon BO’s Orders.
You must apply the net ROI applicable under the same corporate scheme under which the loan was availed. I demand that the entire difference be refunded immediately, and request you to stop engaging into such malpractices.
Such a SHAME that India ’s biggest private bank is engaged into such cheap practices and manipulations.

Pesky calls: Court blasts ICICI Bank
PTI | October 22, 2008 | 18:12 IST
Coming down heavily on ICICI Bank for making unsolicited calls to mobile phone users, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday declined to stay the contempt proceedings initiated against it in the State Consumer Commission on a cellphone users’ complaint.
Citing their own experience of receiving pesky calls from the bank about personal loans and other bank schemes, a Division Bench comprising of Justice Vikramjit Sen and Justice S L Bhayana strongly observed that “at all times of the day we get calls from ICICI Bank. You think you are above the law.”
“Every day we get nuisance calls. What business you get out of such calls. Face the music for making nuisance calls,” Justice Sen noted and refused to grant stay on the ongoing contempt petition filed by advocate Nivedita Sharma.
The court was hearing an application filed by the bank seeking the high court’s intervention and a stay on the contempt petition.
Sharma in a contempt petition filed before the state commission stated that she had been receiving calls from the ICICI bank despite a direction from the Commission to stop harassing consumers.
On her complaint, the commission in December 2006 imposed an exemplary cost of Rs 50 lakh (Rs 5 million) on the Airtel and Cellular Operators Association of India for their failure to control the pesky calls made by the telemarketers and banks.
The commission also imposed Rs 25 lakh (Rs 2.5 million) penalty, to be jointly paid by n the ICICI Bank and American Express Bank, for making repeated calls to the mobile users, she said.
She claimed that the commission had observed that in case these calls did not stop and if consumers are still subjected to such harassment, they could approach the commission against the bank and telemarketers.

Dear Reader, do you notice the constant annoyance of Nazia Sayeed, Office of Head Service Quality of ICICI Bank? This is called “Damage Control,” but lemme tell you my tale and YOU see if you would do business with such Banksters.
A man’s account had been phished (NOT MINE), and money was sent to me by the phisherman and I credited to the vendor to whom the payment was being made. The money was lost when ICICI took it out of our account even though the phished account owner ADMITTED that he had unwittingly given his password code, etc., to the phisherman. Why we were made to pay, was because ICICI Bank had already refunded HIM!!! I went to Lower Parrel over that deal all to no avail. They asked me for things I had no ability to give so we just lost the money. Think again if you don’t imagine I was madder than hell!
Uh … Nazia, no need to ask me to write your office. Birds of a feather DO flock together, once a bankster always a bankster.
What do you do when a gun is at your head and the thief says, “Your money or your life?” Do you plead with him that your children need to eat? Do you think he cares? That’s all a letter to Nazia would do. She works for the thieves, and she’ll lie for them in a heart beat. I’ve got two other stories to tell, but will spare the ink at this point. Don
