ICICI Bank - A bad experience for many

April 27th, 2005 at 10:16pm

I had only verbally heard about the bad experiences people are having with ICICI Bank, but this just proves it!

Came across this page (do read it! - opens in a new window) via madman’s page.

I have a account with ICICI bank because its our salary account, and we are kind of forced to use ICICI Bank. And since we have a salary account, we get a decent service. But yes, the credit card department, and the call centre sucks big time. That’s my personal experience.

They put you on hold for 5 to 10 mins. (just imagine listening to the same junk music/tone/adverts continuously), and then there is no guarantee that you will get to speak to someone or your problem would be solved. Infact, today I was put on hold for around 7 mins, and after that the call as abruptly disconnected!. Next time I call the call center, I get to speak to a totally new person, and start from scrap describing the problem. The people at the call center just promise to do things, and nothing actually happens. If it happens, then you are really your luck.

Hope K V Kamath reads this!.

My advice to all - Avoid ICICI as far as possible. Many people predict that the bank would collapse in a few years from now. Have a account with any nationalized bank.

Personally, I have an account with SBI and keep a minimum amount in ICICI.

I have a horrible experience with ICICI bank. It is the worst pvt. sector bank.

They withheld my cheques for the loan and I had pay bribe to get my cheques.

They said that there are many people to whom the bribe amount will go. If i don’t pay bribe then i shall not get the loan. As i was in a hurry to complete all the formalities, I paid the money.

Plus,i and my family had to bear the worst ever time of our life.

With anger you blame only ICICI Bank. Becaue you had experince only with them. My self, gave an ad in The Hindu news paper. From the next day I start to receive calls from HSBC Credit card, Standard charted bank credit card, City Bank Credit card every day. I found that those calls are all coming from associates specially from T.Nagar branch. I start to ask their phone number and the details about their manager and their cell number also. The joke is that from the same office I used to get 3 calls from different girls. Means the office distributing the phone numbers to all staffs to call. Any one tell me where to give complaint about this. Some time I used to take the phone numbers to the respective Telephone line provider like Hutch, AirTel. But it is not the solution. Is there any site available to register complaint for investigation on line. If so pl. give me the details. I will publish at the site http://www.chennaizoom.com at Alangola Chennai. Thanks

I had an account in citibank. An I used their overdraft facility once. After making the interest shoot up, they made me pay half the amount(unbelievable!!) I took as overdraft. I closed the overdraft. Then they sent me a credit card without my applying for it. Then they charged me service charge of 4669 Rs for the credit card I didnt use. I told them to close my account. Which they promptly refused until I cleared up all their cooked up dues and sent a mail to chennai for the closure.

The plots seems to get thicker as there is no guarantee that they will close the account citing lost mail … and further charge me service charges which may sound like new word from a dictionary.

They have ensured that the chap who use citibank never sleeps.

I may have to approach the consumer court
