ICICI Bank - A bad experience for many

I had only verbally heard about the bad experiences people are having with ICICI Bank, but this just proves it!

Came across this page (do read it! - opens in a new window) via madman’s page.

I have a account with ICICI bank because its our salary account, and we are kind of forced to use ICICI Bank. And since we have a salary account, we get a decent service. But yes, the credit card department, and the call centre sucks big time. That’s my personal experience.

They put you on hold for 5 to 10 mins. (just imagine listening to the same junk music/tone/adverts continuously), and then there is no guarantee that you will get to speak to someone or your problem would be solved. Infact, today I was put on hold for around 7 mins, and after that the call as abruptly disconnected!. Next time I call the call center, I get to speak to a totally new person, and start from scrap describing the problem. The people at the call center just promise to do things, and nothing actually happens. If it happens, then you are really your luck.

My advice to all - Avoid ICICI as far as possible. Many people predict that the bank would collapse in a few years from now. Have a account with any nationalized bank.

Personally, I have an account with SBI and keep a minimum amount in ICICI.

    Hi Sachin,
    You must have opt for auto debit facility while taking the credit card, that is why they are debiting ur account.
    But yes, your concern is fully valid, these people levy absurd charges, the communication of which is not done previously and at hte due date they debit ur account.
    As they receive the money thru this easy route, the customer complaints are entertained just for the name sake.
    And the customer is at the loosing end as he would have not paid the incalid charges had the auto debit not done.
    I’ll advise you to opt out of the auto debit facility by calling helpline, to stop paying their invalid and absurd demands.

    Is it Legal for ICICI credit card division to debit card holders ICICI bank account for his ICICI credit card dues without his concern.

    I will be thankful if the ICICI management is appraised of the fact that their tall claim of services at the base branch is reviewed and verified since the branch always misrepresents the facts to the management and the bank accepts those facts without verifying the facts from the customers.
    Their set reply is to personally visit the base branch even when the base branch is not providing any solution but asking for compliances which one can not fulfil.
    I am the nominee of an account wherein the nomination has been duly registered and the compliance was done before the branch manager and now for past six months they are insisting on the the same documents and compliances which are impractical and not provided in the banking industry.
    I shall be glad to join a movement against the bank for their unreliable and impractical compliances to just retain the funds of the account holder.
    I have approached the Investors association to lauch a movement in the media locally.

    Hello;

    I also feel the service declared by the ICICI Bank (Hyderabad) for satisfaction of customers are not providing. I registered for online bill payment of BSNL Bill and HUTCH Bill with ICICI Bank in Feb 2006 and the registration accepted but for HUTCH bill the payment not meteralized in due date and BSNL bill paid from my acct but after 17 days BSNL disconnected my phone and data one broad band service stating that bill not paid.

    So I feel the service advertised by ICICI Bank is not giving service in proper way.

    Hi,
    Look now, ICICI is bringing laurels to our country in general and banking industry in particular.
    It seems the bank has accepted that they can go only this far in terms of customer service and they cannot go beyond it.
    I think we shud give them a standing ovation for obnoxious and incapable people working there and also to their system n controls.

    I’m a french and despite some warnings given by friends,I chose to send money to India through ICICI online facility (Netexpress service). On the website they claim that the money is remitted within 3 working days to a non-ICICI account.
    Ofcourse, they give you a tracking number and different dates are mentioned (date of request/date of reciept/date of credit in beneficiary’s account) but there is always a gap of 10-12 days between the date of remittance shown and the actual remittance in beneficiary’s account!!
    I asked the ICICI customer care (NRI service) to help and assist me (though they seem polite and speak as if they are going to resolve the problem immediately) they never have been able to give me a satisfactory reply.
    Now, again I’m waiting for my beneficiary to recieve the amount for 13 days and the ICICI customer support doesn’t care at all.
    I think it’s a shame for such a big name as ICICI and causes bad reputation for your couontry. Because in Europe the bank services are fast and banks do care for their customers.

    One more amazing fact about ICICI@Car-loan. I applied for ICICI Car Loan which they conveyed is approved. After numerous calls they did not deliver the cheque to me (’aaj sham tak aa jaye ga’). After much wait, I managet to finance the car on my own and asked the loan-personnel that I do not require the loan any more. Look what happend after a month… they deduct the first EMI from my a/c. REASON: The loan is still ‘ACTIVE’ in their system irrespective whether the applicant has receive the money or not. Guys, be double sure about this auto-debit thing.

    Why do one take health plan? ISn’t it becoz in time of difficulty u are benefitted out of it keeping in mind the clause they have mentioned.
    My daughter had undergone a surgery last year.I had filed my insurance papers for claim. After few days they send a rejection fax note.Reason: It is a predefined illness and is from birth.Though the illness is not predefined as it was diagnosed few months back and secondly it is not from the birth.Who kn;ows it better?They or the Doctor who have treated her.
    I filed my papers again and again I have received the same reply.
    I would request kindly do not be in false belief that insurance policy of icici is a good one.They make calls to u for taking their policy and later it is we who run afer them.
    What is the use of such kind of policy when it cannot serve us at the right time???

    Mr Mittal… seems you are busy drafting the reply to my emails. Is it… but a clarification for you… here we are talking about the past emails only :lol:

    Just that I didn’t get time to sue your bank last year… but dont forget the Consumer Protection Act provides for 2 years as limitation period… so let’s hope for the best :-)

    the whole thing abt this icici is so sick tht i agree with the crusader. as far as i am concerned he( icici crusader) can contact the banking ombudsman. at least they are fair. thts what i am going to do if they ever call me again.and lemme tell u tht they can actually bring the goddam bank to their knees with this ombudsman
