ICICI Bank - A bad experience for many

April 27th, 2005 at 10:16pm

I had only verbally heard about the bad experiences people are having with ICICI Bank, but this just proves it!

Came across this page (do read it! - opens in a new window) via madman’s page.

I have a account with ICICI bank because its our salary account, and we are kind of forced to use ICICI Bank. And since we have a salary account, we get a decent service. But yes, the credit card department, and the call centre sucks big time. That’s my personal experience.

They put you on hold for 5 to 10 mins. (just imagine listening to the same junk music/tone/adverts continuously), and then there is no guarantee that you will get to speak to someone or your problem would be solved. Infact, today I was put on hold for around 7 mins, and after that the call as abruptly disconnected!. Next time I call the call center, I get to speak to a totally new person, and start from scrap describing the problem. The people at the call center just promise to do things, and nothing actually happens. If it happens, then you are really your luck.

Hope K V Kamath reads this!.

My advice to all - Avoid ICICI as far as possible. Many people predict that the bank would collapse in a few years from now. Have a account with any nationalized bank.

Personally, I have an account with SBI and keep a minimum amount in ICICI.

SUB: WHY THE CHEQUE PRESENTED IN HDFC COIMBATORE BRANCH NOT PRESENTED FOR PAYMENT & WITHHOLDED BY COIMBATORE BRANCH OF HDFC

    Respected Sir,
I, Rajneesh Madhok, Distt. President, Bahujan Samaj Party (Khatri Wing) brings to your kind notice about the matter solemnly affirmed and declared by Mr. Naval Gupta of Kesri Sales & Engg. Corp, Loha Mandi Road, Phagwara-144401 (Pb). Pursuant to the constitution & with reference to the below mentioned facts please specify why not the writ petition should be filed against HDFC:
    1. A Coimbatore based party presented the Cheque for clearing to HDFC Bank Coimbatore branch. But the concerned branch not presented the cheque for clearing even in a month time due to the reason that: The cheque was issued by the concerned party in the name of Kesri Sales Corportation inspite of Kesri Sales & Engg. Corp.
    2. The substitute cheque or the information to include the words & Engg can be intimated to the drawer. Why the branch holded the cheque for a month.
    3. Whether the bank branch intimated to the drawer or drawee or Payee about the discrepancy in the cheque.
    4. The drawer, drawee’s and Payee’s telephone numbers, e-mail addresses and fax numbers are in bank’s record. Then why not the above-mentioned parties intimated by the Branch.
    5. Whether the cheque should be holded without reason or as per earlier requests made several times to the Phagwara Branch that Kesri Sales Corporation & Kesri Sales & Engg. Corporation should be treated as one and the same beneficiary.
    6. It requires physical transportation of cheque from the city where the cheque has been deposited by the drawer with your bank branch. So, when the drawer has deposited the cheque in the branch it should be presented for payment on the same day.
    7. Why the collection had not been made & the party had been deprived to use funds for a month.
    8. The depository bank can make electronic image of cheque & transmit to its correspondent bank branch of Phagwara. The Phagwara branch may make a proper reproduction of the electronic image & present it to the drawer & drawee ban on approval.
    Contd. Page –2-

    Page-2-

    9. When a cheque presented in the bank. HDFC cannot hold more than 3 working days in its branch the cheque, which had been presented for clearing. Why HDFC Bank holded it?

    Thanking you,

I was shocked when I read some of the replies to this post. You people are crazy! There are many posts here where people have posted chunks of their financial history complete with addresses, account numbers, dates and so on. Such a lax and cavilier attitude to your own personal financial information makes me very worried for any financial information my bank has offshored.

    Folks,
This is the worst ever bank I have dealt with.I opened an NRE account Oct 23 06.Deposited some TC.Was told it will take 3 -4 business days to activate.I was given some freaking NRI kit with password and userid.
After two weeks when I checked..the account was still not active.I called the guy..He said ..there was some signature problem..can you please sign one more form..I said..ok.Did it.Still after 2 weeks nothing happened.Called the guy again…This time he says..sir the forms have changed..can you please fill up another one.OK..I am a patient man so I promptly did it.
It was time for me to return to US.After returing I called those guys and was told the account is still not active and then started the whole new process of emails and calls.finally after long frustating process it was activated.
It was time for me to login now through internet.oops!..your password is invalid.SHIT! MAN!..this is too much..Called up again ..was told that I have to send the written letter to mumbai office to get new password…What the hell is going in here? It looked that all my frustration was having no effect on them..looks like they were enjoing it.I send the letter and It is been more than three weeks now and no reply.
But it is good that they have showed me there true colors in the starting itself .I will not do any transactions through this bank and will discourge all the my friends and even foes not to even think of opening an account here.

    That was my story guys…

    Take care..

    Hi all,
I have read the problems mentioned above. Please read my proble m.
I, Dr Biplab Mishra, hold a car over draft account in your branch (A/c No : 007105003348 ).I have several complaints regarding the performance of ICICI bank based on the service not provided for this account.

I had deposited a cheque of the amount Rs10000/- (cheque no : 330855,SBI,Ansari Nagar, New Delhi) in the cheque drop box of ATM,ICICI Bank, South Extension part-2 on 13/8/2006.The amount was not credited to my account and following the same, I received calls from the executives saying that I have not deposited any amount for the particular month and a penalty was being imposed. No one in the call centre was able to trace the cheque. This situation was again repeated when I deposited a cheque of Rs60000/- (cheque no :330859,SBI,Ansari Nagar, New Delhi) in the cheque drop box of ICICI Bank, Green park extension, on 15/9/2006 which again was not credited to my account. Even after repeated phone calls to the call centre (SR 11743395 dt 11/10/06), no body was able to trace this cheque. I received calls from the collection centre that I have not been paying the transaction amount of the account and was asked to pay the amount immediately. I could find out from the staff at this branch (Green Park Extension) in person that the cheque has been withheld at the central processing unit. On asking the reason, nobody could explain!
I submitted a written complaint regarding the problem to the branch manager with no answer from them.
Though I haven’t received any answer regarding my problem,I am still receiving calls from collection department, the latest was very abusive.
Could someone tell me what I am supposed to do now?

    Dear Friends,

I used ICICI bank website to register one of my payees , as their new
process they will send confirmation code as an SMS to registered mobile
number , As i live in USA i have registered my mobile number thinking
that they will send messages once when i register. I pay for each SMS i
    get.
To my surprise i got the SMS immediately after pressing submit button
in payee registration page on their website, was happy that payee is
registered , then i got same message again, i thought they are
reconfirming, then i got one more ,, more,,,, more and more.
in total i have received 150 SMS messages I paid for all the messages.

When i write to Icici bank , their response is defective (Not only
    their software).
I asked them to check their SMS logs, they asked me to check with
service provider… I got the Itemised bill from t-mobil and sent them
with date and time when i got the messages, i just got back a mail
saying , we have sent only once. and started playing cheap tricks.

I gave them a clue that their softwere has bugs and check it, they
didnt say anything for that, but they regret for the financial damage.
when they regret that means their software has that big bug…

So dudes, be careful when you register your mobile number for Icici

In all my transaction with icici i had a very bad customer care experience. I agree when all go well its good. Otherwise its worst. They never try to understand the customer problem just giving standard verbiage without solving the real issue. Its better to deal with nationalised bank for peace of mind. ICICI customer care is the worst experiece. The website doesnot contain the contact details of senior responsible people. The voice of the customer is not reaching to the top management. Is Mr.Kamath Listening?

SUB: HIGHLY DEPRESSED WITH YOUR ASSOCIATES

    Respected Sir,

Its quite upsetting to inform you that I am highly depressed with the way your associates are working and taking care of customer’s problems.
Sir, I Alpana Madhok opened a F.D. Account with Icici bank jointly with my husband Mr. Rajneesh Madhok on 8th Dec 2006 amounting to Rs 30,000-00. In 4 days I had been so much harassed and humiliated as if I had made a theft and the police officer is investigating by asking questions. In the evidence I had already submitted the documents, why I am being harassed by making telephone calls and then submitting these documents or those documents again and again.
Sir, I had made the deposit in the bank and had not taken the loan that you are harassing me so much. The day I opened the account the Officer told me to submit the proof of residence and personal identification. I regret to inform you that I tried to submit the proof of residence by furnishing Ration Card copy which is invalid according to your bank’s rules and regulations, then I submitted Photo copy of Voter Identity card even this document is not valid, then I submitted Driving license copy which was accepted by the official. Then I was directed to submit the electricity bill of the house where I am residing. I submitted that document. Which was rejected on the plea that this bill is 3 months old. Submit fresh bill’s copy. I submitted that document.

Then next day I got a phone call from the Bank to enquire about my date of birth. Which I described. Though I had submitted the evidence of date of birth in my Driving Licence copy. Today I got a call from the Bank Executive to submit the copy of the Electricity Bill on which your name or your husband’s name has been mentioned.

Sir, I talk to you whether the Electricity bill being paid by you bears the name of yourself and every member of your family. Whether a person cannot live in a joint family.

I suggest to the Bank, instead of spending money on ads, spend some money in hiring smart people, spend some money in hiring a good technical team group of people who can check out the documents properly.

Spend some amount on knowing customers problems. Spending amount on ads like Acha Lagta hai & Mai hu-na (no where).

Dealing with Icici bank is awful. And I am seriously thinking why I should do business with Icici Bank.

Sir, how much patience one has to keep in opening a Fixed Deposit Account with ICICI bank? I was shocked to know to approach after 14 days time to collect my FDR deposit receipt in case my FDR not delivered to me at my door step. As I am very much annoyed with the services of ICICI Bank, I don’t think I would like to continue the relationship any more & also will recommend to any one.
Whether my harassment will come to an end one day or I will continue to get a phone call to submit this or that document and the processing will not come to an end.
I realize that ICICI Bank is screwing their company’s goodwill as you might be employing & training the inefficient staff. Well after all that tensions I will have a sigh of relief one day when I shall get rid off from the clutches of the officials.
Madam told me that I would have my FD account opened within 14 days. She got my cash deposited first of all and then let me know about this cumbersome procedure. Yes, she told me that instead of contacting Bank Branch I should get my document through Courier Service at the address on my documents submitted. As the address on my documents does not bear House Number and Street No.2 in Nehru Nagar locality. She told whatever the address is in the documents furnished, the FDR will be delivered at that address. Sir, Please let me know there are about 1,000 people living in Nehru Nagar locality. Unless & until we mention the House No. Or Street No. In the Bank’s documents how my FDR will be delivered at my doorstep. Secondly it is a precious document. How we can locate whether it has been delivered at the proper hand or not. What is the hitch to deliver the document at the time of deposit? The only hitch I understand that the staff employed by your bank is inefficient.

Anyhow I pray to God that one day I shall be able to get rid off from this ICICI Bank.

I don’t know how do tell My worst experience with ICICI Lombard..

The story goes like this dated 29 nov 2006 [My Wife Anita Prasad] received a call from ICICI.Lombard [Bombay, andheri PH 9522239803028 ] for healthcare policy..and after asking her credit card number and also the date of birth and told her that she will receive a confirmation call before starting this policy But instead of giving a confirmation call to My wife ICICI lombard directly send the Authorization to ICICI credit card division to debit My wife card [4477473831971002] with Rs 8525 for a health care policy.. of which she has not authorized the ICICI lombard to start a policy..

and after this ICICI credit card Brach debit My wife account without having proper authorization details .. and send an SMS on 30 Nov around 8.30am that this [8525] amt is debited to your ICICI Credit card for ICICI lombard Gen 24…

I don’t think this a process which ICICI lombard should follow to start a policy.. I had a word with Many people in ICICI Lombard built I am till now not clear as what is the status with them.. I will be visiting there office today to ensure that this policy is not been booked in My wife name..

My experience with ICICI Bank has been mixed. I took a Car loan from them which was duly repaid on time by Post Dated Cheque. When the above loan was totally repaid, I wanted Account Statement of the Loan A/c , I was asked by the Branch that I will ahve to Customer Care Centre which was located 12 kms from my residence. Any way I went , bingo, you know what does the staff at customer care tells me, Sorry sir, we can not issue the same from here, Call our Customer Care Telephone no or send SMS , you will get it by Courier. I lost my temper, I insisted I meet the Manager or the Supervisor and I wouldn;t leave without meeting any of them. Its only then they agreed to issue the account statement.

I wonder how Mr.K.V.Kamath gets Banker of the Year Awards. May be they are buying these awards by giving Advertisment to these Business Channels/ Papers.

[Stop ECS payments, on whose instructions?]

My list of complaints with ICICI Group is endless. Unfortunately I have no choice but to maintain my account until the Banking Ombudsman gives his verdict on my complaints. ICICI is in no mood to solve problems, I keep receiving emails from ICICI once in a while, that my home loan complaints (see above my first email) will be resolved in 4 working days. I am still learning to count the ICICI way even after completing engineering and management, 1-2-3-0-1-2-3-2-3-0-1-2 err.. doesnt get any further…

So, this new complaint: ICICI Bank bounced by ECS transaction for my ICICI Prudential insurance premium, despite having enough balance in my account (SB account linked to FD with sweep-in facility). I received a call from ICICI Pru about the same the next day, and I made premium payment through their website linked to ICICI Infinity netbanking from the same account without any delay after consulting ICICI-Pru’s call center. I also found ICICI Bank debiting my account ‘Cheque Bounce Charge’ (Despite that ICICI Bank Fees/Charges table does not have any penalty for ECS failures)

Now, from Sept 2006 onwards, ICICI Pru (a separate legal entity, associated with ICICI Bank) decided not to raise ECS deduction for monthly premiums! Luckily, I was able to avert my policy lapsing by making (forced) payment through ICICI Infinity netbanking again as soon as I detected the blunder.

On whose instructions did ICICI Pru or ICICI stopped my ECS deductions and let my policy lapse? Neither ICICI-Pru nor ICICI Bank had any clue when I asked them, and instead ICICI-Pru asked me to submit a fresh cancelled cheque and ECS mandate form again to restore my account.

Customer gets all the punishment for ICICI’s own faults.

BTW, I must appreciate one thing - I am finding the auto-debit in Infinity to be better than ECS, atleast I have a bit more control now, payments happen in more timely manner, and I can stop the payments anytime (if I have to), avoiding the harrasment process and confusions through their call-center :-)

Even I have experienced the ICICI Bank employees at their department at Lodhi Road promising you something and ultimately you are a loser. I have also got that bad experience in connection with a housing loan that I applied for. I took a loan of approx 3 lacs in December 2005 for an Opel Corsa that i bought then. The EMI for this was little less than 10,000 each month. I was able to make the payment for 4 months but after that was not able to do that on time May onwards. After that i had to shift my house and change my phone no. too. But in July I called the collections department of ICICI to collect 30,000 towards the balance payment of the installment. The guy(Harmeet from Collections) took my address and confirmed that he would come to collect the cash. Next day morning 2 guys came to my house and i offered them to take the money and give me the receipt for the same. On this both the men said that they were not carrying the receit book so i had to accompany them till their office(Location of which was not informed to me). As i was willing to make the payment I accompanied them to where they asked me to come. They took me to Videocon Towers in Jhandewalan-Delhi. I was taken to office and made to sit there. In th emeantime one of the guys came and asked for the keys as he would get one of the door locks checked(I had told him that 1 lock was not working fine). I gave him the keys and in the meantime 3 guys came and asked me to sign on a sheet of paper. When i read those papers i realised that they wanted me to surrender the car. I refused and said that i had come to make the payment and di d not want to surrender the car. At t his they forced me, threatening me about my wife who was all alone at home at that point of time and made me sign those papers without my consent. Since then i have been trying to get over my lost money. I had paid approximately 90,000 and have not got anything with me. And now today i received a letter from the bank which asks me to make the payment of 2 lacs 50thousand as they have already sold the car. What should i make the payment for. If earlier they were not ready to take the payment for Rs.30,000 thinking that i could not carry on with the loan, how can i get 2 lacs 50thousand to make a payment for no rhyme or reason. ICICI is a bank with no reason attached. I dont know how many people they might have duped till now.

One of the worst experiences of banking in the world. They just want to make money by cheating. While openign the account, good looking lady officers will guide you through the entire procdeure and will thank you with 70 mm broad smile after that they will treat you like the municipality treats to street dogs.. This is the case of Secunderabad Branch. Even the managers are eually irresponsibleand careless. Only god save the bank

Hope Mr Kamath and other board members read this…..

    Hi,
I have been having trouble with my icici bank home loan for 9 lakhs. i unfortunatley have a salary account with them, and the EMI of 10000 will be paid directly from this account as per my signed instructions on the agreement. They are now asking for 3 cheques of 3 lakhs each as security. I thought they kept the house documents as secutity (which they are keeping with them). Would anyone know if it is legally right for the bank to ask for this high value cheques which would any way bounce…and is a non baillable offence. who keeps liqiud 3 lakhs in an icici bank account. I asked the bank for written guidelines and the answer is that it is the bank’s policy, which is unwritten. Any answers out there

    Ankur,

This happened to me also. My cell number got automatically changed to an older number which I have stopped using 2 years ago. When I called ICICI and confronted they had no answer other than technical issue and server upgradation. They offered to change it to the number I want but I declined saying that I could do that myself online.

Friends, please check the mobile number before you make online transaction. Please try to avoid ICICI or any other private bank as much as possible.

The following was received as forward message against ICICI Bank. Also check out the consumer court decision against SIFY broadBand @ http://www.sifycase.org. ICICI was lucky that i didn’t get time to sue them, last year :p

    “Critical problem with ICICI systems.

Over the past 2-3 years, the mobile number on my account has been automatically updated for 3 times.
(without requests from my end, and I am the only person who operates the account. Further I confirmed with the bank that there were no requests from my end.)

Last time this automatic update happened about a year back, it was the 3rd occurence and I had strongly suggested the customer service people to take this up with their upper management.

Guess what, a week back I was doing some online transactions and presto !, the mobile number displayed there is a number which was not mine. In fact it was a number which I had never seen or heard before (so it couldnt be a number I knew.)

On calling ICICI, and asking them regarding the problem, I was told that they would look into it. WHen I asked for a reason of this AUTOMATIC updation, I was told they would resolve it.
Then they ask for my current mobile number so they can get back to me with details of the problem.

The next day I notice an SMS from ICICI Bank which mentions an request number and mentions that the now I have subscribed for alerts and I will start receiving them regularly.

On calling them up, I am told that it is the request which I had requested them for !!!!

About 2 days back some fellow who identified himself from ICICI left a message on my voicemail saying that there is no problem with their system. (!!!!!!!!!, I wonder if the ghosts are updating their data then…)

My suggestion to everyone who is banking with ICICI is to check the mobile numbers on your account (especially using online banking, since they cant lie about it) every now and then and to forward this mail to everyone you know who banks with ICICI.”

boss it’s like robbing 1000000000 customers at one go and even if 1 out of that million / billion does not notice that, his money has been robbed it’s a win win situation for ICICI……..IT has changed everything that’s why we r able to raise our concerns and abuse them here in this blog……else we would have been running from pillar to post to get our issues attended by some stupid guy at ICICI.
For all those cheating that they do to make that “FEE BASED INCOME”…..immagin 60% of total income of ICICI is fee based income….by the way this new ” Fee Based Income ” was pioneered by ICICI……have you ever come across these kind of un-immaginary fees been charged by any bank in the past some 15 yrs ago ????
Stupidty to the core….to take out my money from my Saving a/c i have to shell out 350 Rs as cheque book charges……then how the hell you expect to withdraw the money from the a/c……so it’s basically ICICI lures the customers to open savings a/c and then when customers needs to withdraw the money…. charge them fees to issue cheque books……as well keep the money with a “baniya of grocery/ kinara shop”……he gives me cash when ever I want without asking any Q……Why do we need banks for…in that case

Ref to #379. Somebody from the bank eventually called me and promised that they will process my application on a priority basis, but I need to go through the same pain of getting all the application procedures completed.. But I wanted some guarantee from the bank that my share certficates are under safe custody. The lady who called from the quality told me that they confirmed with the local branch and the certicates are safe. I insisted on the written docuemntation or an email from the local bank confirmirming this. She promised me that they will confirm on that day itself. But so far there is no communication and all stopped abruptly. This was a month ago.

Now I’m pretty convinced that they have lost all my share certificates. Even if they did, why can’t they admit and advise me on the necessary steps.

First of all, this bank should stop recruiting in-experienced staffs to manage customers. The service quality compared to other internal bank is the worst I have ever experienced.

I am still waiting for somebody to call me someday - again to buy some more time to keep me waiting forever. This is nasty.

Agreed that banks like ICICI adopted information/communication technology, and made banking more convenient for people.

This, in no way gives them any right to cheat customers, adopt fraudulent/unethical practices etc. My complaint has been about the unethical/fraudulent/illegal practices followed by the bank. They are also violating the monopolies and restrictive trade practices guidelines. I suffered a lot, however, decided not to default on my loan payments.

Customers like me wouldnt mind giving reasonable time to correct issues to organizations who bring positive revolutions in the Industry for consumer benefit. In fact some of issues I faced earlier with my SB account were also corrected by ICICI when brought to their notice. Ofcourse, I would have been happier if these errors had never occured. I am sure, there are many happy customers too who never faced an issue with ICICI.

Nobody denies the benefits of the technology, I have not seen anyone wanting ICICI or any other banks to go back to stone-age banking technniques.

However, ICICI has been adopting fradulent practices in certain cases, and despite bringing these to their notice, escalating, complaining, ICICI has not shown any interest to either correct them, and infact repeating the same ‘frauds’ again and again. These unethical/illegal activities must be stopped.

ICICI Bank has changed the way people do banking in India. I agree that there are flaws with the bank, but todays customer wants everything at their beck and call. They forget that they were banking in stone age before ICICI Bank came into existence. So be patient and give them some time. The country is growing let the Bank also grow.

Friends you guys have rightly said that ICICI is the worst bank ever in INDIA….. even i have a current account in ICICI since 2003. But every year they dont clear about 50-60 cheques in my account…. which amounts to Rs.1lac approx. When approached to the officials they said we wont entertain your complaint as you have come after 6 months of depositing the cheques… we can entertain such complaints only if approached in 3 months time….. But it was the same idiot manager at mahalaxmi ICICI branch manager Mr. Pramod who had been telling us to wait for 2-3 days time so that thsoe cheques will get cleared….. now the same asshole says he won t accept my complaint as it is time barred……

I just read somewhere up that ICICI got all awards for best bank…. Well i would like to inform yiou guys that these awards are purchased and not won by ICICI…. the report was also published in times of india and mid day immediately…. NO one would have imagined that ICICI can go to so low level to prove that they have good service…. They BUY AWARDS… But friends lets stay united and spread the message…… let them buy as many awards they want….. but if we stop continuing being customers and prevent others from having account with ICICI bastards then the bank will die on its own…. then we can tell Mr. Kamat to put those awards in his own ass

i have a problem with ge money cash card. i got the cardwith RS10,000/- limit saying that there are no hidden charges upon
withdrawing cash and also no charges on registration. i withdrew 10,000/- on first transaction itself and i was
charged with say 250 for regisration and some 500 for
withdrawing excess then the permitted amount on
my card because Rs250 were deducted from the limit.
Upon follow up after receiving first statement
genuine call centre porblems started 60 secs calls get disconnected by the time u finish the identification
next time again ur call gets disconnected and things went
on upto some 30 -40 calls with no result.

then we strated local office follow up where we were
asked to leave the premisies or else the mafiagiri.
they cancelled my card within few days. i was paying
regularly the monthly installment, but stopped until some
balance 800-1000 were pending the amount which i
felt the co. has cheated with us.

i have written to RBI regarding the same but i have yet not received the answer.

i think people should wake up and stop using the facilities
from bank/finance co. which has no greviances cell at
local office with proper authorities with contact numbers.
call centres are meant for general information but banks
wanting to cheat customers uses call centres for there
benifits and customers nightmare and provide no greviances staff.

Guys….i guess all of “us” disgusted ICICI customers crying in this blog are wasting our time……I suggest we spend our time on trying to figure out on how to cheat these ICICI assholes…..i mean beat them in their own game…..

I have had one success till now fighting them……after one year ICICI has agreed that it was their mistake in Dr 1350 wrongly to my card a/c last year and the interest and finance chgs there on till last month……I was very adamant…..not to pay them at any cost.
I won the fight with ICICI, some days back I got a letter from ICICI saying that they have canceled my GOLD credit card and reversing Rs 1350/- and other interest and service charges (aprox 2500) on it charged on my card a/c for the past ONE year wrongly debited by them some time back in July 2005 (yes more than 1 yr later) AND THAT I DON’T OWE ANY MONEY TO ICICI……as I was very stubborn / adamant in my decision not to pay ICICI for their fault. I had stopped using the card last year and did not budge from my position that I am not at fault and that I will not pay for some thing that I am not liable, ICICI threatened me that my card will be put on hold and that unless I pay them I will not be able to use it………I said to them…..OK forget it I will put the ICICI card in the dust bin and never think about it…..I was sure that I will not fall for all these stupid traps ……?????
After my stubborn decision last year……I made sure that what ever letter / card statement I received from ICICI……. I just dropped it back in the drop box at the ICICI ATM……wrote in all those letters that I am not liable to make any payment to ICICI…….as there was no point wasting time calling up the stupid customer care girls of ICICI……
So guys….if you keep cool / be very positive / very adamant / do not budge to their sweet words…..shall I say rat traps…!!!! Then I am sure you all can win against them…..the secret is to not to bend to their wishes and not to surrender to their sweet talks.
I HAVE ONE MORE FIGHT STILL PENDING WITH THEM…..Rs 750 wrongly Dr in my savings a/c (some stupid cheque bounce chs)……so to compensate for that 750 loss…I stopped my last EMI payment (Rs 999) of my Sony TV loan some time back…..and fortunately I have shifted to a different city…….. so they cant trace me for now.

i totally agree that ICICI banking is not up to the standards in phonebanking its worst ,i do hold a current account there with ruppes 10,000/- mininimum deposit and pay them when ever i deposit the money (over 50,000/- monthly) that to if i put 10,000 of different currencies notes they charge u hefty.if u deposit 10 rupees curency of 10,000/- then u r gone ,approxly 10% of ur money is enjoyed by ICICI.and everyone knows that if u encash tooo they charge by the grace of chidambaram’s guidlines.very difficult to live with money hunters around

    Krishna Prasad,

You had mentioned “Gave them lot of blasting still no use.” I would like to say that even if you beat a buffalo or if it rains on the buffalo, I don’t think the buffalo would ever recognize it. It is so much thick-skinned. :) :)

And now, these jerks have started on disguising as customers and are using abusive words too. I got a comment with all sorts of unparlimentary comments to my other blog post on the shameful Citibank Chennai. Check out this post at: http://viewsreviews.wordpress.com/2006/07/02/citibank-branch-or-kothu-paratha-center/

You can see a comment by Kumaraswamy (kumar82@yahoo.com). I have admitted his comment with magnanimity but removed the set of phrases, adjectives and conjunctions that has been used for a cleaner category of web presentation on the blogsphere.

While it is Venilla (or Strawberry) Perumal for ICICI, I think, Citibank is trying to showcase Kumaraswamy. All belong to the same flock trying to skin off the innocent public of thier hard-earned money. No big differences.

I too have had a terrible experience with the ICICI Bank till about 10.00 am this morning.

I had opened a saving bank account in 2003 and two debit cards were made available to me. One of the debit card never got used. The card expired in 12/05 but card fee has been deducted upto March 07.

My account went inactive towards end-2004 and subsequently rendered dormant. My writtenrequest for change of address was sent to the old address with a stick onslip asking me to personally visit the bank for the needful.

After a lot of persuasion I got a pleasant surprise today from the Bank’s Cannought Place Branch that my account and revocation claims have been attended to in fruitful manner.

In this ordeal of over 2.5 years I had threatened to close my account and wanted to speak with CEO. The role of CustomerCare in this whole episode has been very pathetic. The Branch Managers’ of CP and DU have played a proactive role in resolution of my problem and they need to commended especially while the Customer Care wing was busy shifting responsibilities and facilitation to customers. The Banking Ombudsman of the RBI is another avenue that has been brought into the loop.
The future relationship with the bank will depend on the service satisfaction and there is always a hope for improvement. The ICICI bank mandarins must take a serious look at these comments and act accordingly.

    Today’s date is 15th November
As per the first line, the date should be before 8th November
As per second line, if it is before 7th November, the request will not be processed
Is this what they wanted to say
Why is the customer care so clumsy

I had worst experience in my life with ICICI bank. I requested to open an SB Account that was in June 06, but till now I didnt get access to that account. In July I moved to US then things became still worse. They said my account needs to be converted to NRO account. Inspite of sending all the required documents they are still pushing with endless questions. Daily following up by sending mails and calling them all in vain. They are taking there own time. Gave them lot of blasting still no use.
If you ask please dont do any dealings with this bank. They are the worst.
