ICICI Bank - A bad experience for many
April 27th, 2005 at 10:16pm
I had only verbally heard about the bad experiences people are having with ICICI Bank, but this just proves it!
Came across this page (do read it! - opens in a new window) via madman’s page.
I have a account with ICICI bank because its our salary account, and we are kind of forced to use ICICI Bank. And since we have a salary account, we get a decent service. But yes, the credit card department, and the call centre sucks big time. That’s my personal experience.
They put you on hold for 5 to 10 mins. (just imagine listening to the same junk music/tone/adverts continuously), and then there is no guarantee that you will get to speak to someone or your problem would be solved. Infact, today I was put on hold for around 7 mins, and after that the call as abruptly disconnected!. Next time I call the call center, I get to speak to a totally new person, and start from scrap describing the problem. The people at the call center just promise to do things, and nothing actually happens. If it happens, then you are really your luck.
Hope K V Kamath reads this!.
My advice to all - Avoid ICICI as far as possible. Many people predict that the bank would collapse in a few years from now. Have a account with any nationalized bank.
Personally, I have an account with SBI and keep a minimum amount in ICICI.

True! My dad has repeatedly told me about the consistently bad customer service of ICICI bank. I dont understand how they are thriving with such bad customer service. Possibly cos they are in India and not U.S. where they would have become bankrupt from lawsuits.

I totally agree with the comments about ICICI. I was quite annoyed that they were charging exhorbitant amounts for not maintaining the minimum balance and hence went personally to close my Accounts with the, And Lo! They said I’ll have pay a charge of Rs. 100/- to close each Account. Moreover, I would have to approach them after a week’s time.
Fantastic isn’t it. My solution was very simple; By e banking I transfer my complete balance to a friend’s account and now still have the Account. Havin’ ma cake ‘n’ eatin’ it too!!!
I also predict it’s down fall in three years’ time.(No this is not my curse but yes the way they are going about their Business, there are all chances”

If the system is fine, .. and if everything goes on smotthly, you wont have problems.
But only when something goes wrong, the level of service that you get at ICICI is horrible. And that is when you are really desperate to get things done, and these people give all possible stupid reason.
Anyway, you will experience it at some point of time!

I too agree with ICICI bank. I had ICICI family first mediclaim policy and the amount is being credited through ABN Amro bank. I had sent a cancellation request of the same through FAX 50 days before. I also got the confirmation from them about the processing. I am surprised to see still the policy is active and amount is being taken from my ABN amro credit card till now. Only God knows when my reqeust will be processed and policy cancelled. I am not satisfied with the service of ICICI and ABN Amro bank.
Hope KV Kamath will get up and take some neccessary action.

ICICI bank is the worst bank I have ever seen in terms of customer service. My experience with them is very bad. ICICI has disabled my online account for some reason and I have talked to about 10 customer service idiots who have no idea why it was disabled. I had a urgent need and needed to send rupees DD to India but even after opening a case 2 months back with them to get my online account activated they haven’t still made my account active. Initially, they started saying it can be done on phone itself and I have been checking everyday to see if my account is activated. After about 10 days or so, someone told me that this cannot be done on phone and they have to do identity verification and asked me to send email to nri@icicibank.com and I did. They asked me to send some details about the account - like account number, owner, branch where it was opened etc. all. First of e-mail is not secure so I have expressed my concern about it and they took about 4 days in replying that they don’t have any other way like fax or phone. So I sent them e-mail with details and then for about a week there is no response. I had to call them again to talk about it and most of the guys I talked said they cannot do anything other thank noting down the problem. I have asked phone numbers of bank manager where I opened the account or Mumbai NRI branch but they declined to give. After sending few more e-mails they said e-mail won’t help and I need to write a letter asking for account activation and gave mumbai branch address. I immediately sent it and they received it (I got acknowlegement). After getting acknowledgement, I asked them status in e-mail and they said they did not receive any letter from me. This made me little suspicious because someone in Mumbai received the letter and also signed on the acknowledgement. I was asked to send letter again and I did. I lost about 15 days during this and so far no response yet from any idiot in ICICI bank. After about 15 days, they said they just posted new passwords and activated the online account. I received the mail and when I opened it, it says that I have been assigned new online account id. But there are no passwords sent. I tried using it with old passwords and nothing worked. What a bunch of fools are these people ?? I clearly mentioned in the letter that they should just activate my existing account and if any new passwords are assigned they should send me the new passwords too. These idiots give standard response in e-mail saying - we are f***ing sorry about the delay and we are doing f***ing best they can. Ultimately I had to arrange money to my parents thru some friends in India. I wanted to close my useless ICICI account and contacted them they are not responding to it at all.

Hi,
I gues ICICI are really thick skinned. You guys have told me about waiting for 7mins and 21 mins stuff. But can you beat this.To open an ICICI direct account its almost 32 days since i applied. My account was supposed to have been activated in a supposedly efficient 48hrs.
I suppose the agent mistook the days for hrs OR maybe ICICI works in that pace.
I would wholeheartedly reccomend that ICICI bank be sold off to the Govt of Bihar if possibel.Atleast i could anticipate such a response.

Hi
I think i am the most panic person due to icici even i dont have account with icici. I have software export business in Nagpur, I have my company account in HDFC bank. One of my client send me 4200$ on 21 st August 2005 from Chase Manhatton Bank New York to HDFC but ICICI is the midater for Chase and HDFC so money has been credited to ICICI on 29 th i got this datewise information from Chase Manhatton. But when i called to ICICI Mumbai same answer ” we are searching” and when Chase Manhattons investigation officer called to ICICI they told them that we dont have HDFC MUMBAI SWIFT and ABA code . Till today my money is with ICICI and i am daily calling and do follow up on STD with idiot guys from call center and hearing same answer so at last i decide to put file a legal complaint on ICICI. If they dont received why they told chase Manhatton that we dont have swift and aba code and why not to me that provide this. Some thing fishy .
NEVER USE ICICI OR AS A MIDIATER BANK.
Thanks

I too have a very bad experience with ICICI bank. The case is :
I am a Private banking customer of ur bank for last 4-5 years. My family is having 3 prvate Banking Accounts bearing Nos. 000701038668,000701234237,003901206562. I have a satisfactory experience of banking with ur bank. However, this time wnen I applied for a Housing loan of Rs.5,00,000 vide application No. 777- 4750212 , ICICI Home Finance Co. Ltd.,Connaught Place Branch,New Delhi-110001,I have got a very very bad experience.
I was entitled for a concessional rate of interest of 7.5 %.After I applied I was told that due to a delay on my part,I may not get concessoinal rate. I insisted that I must get the concession due to me & necessary sanctions may be got .Finally after long delay, sanction letter was issued ,No. S4350693 dt. 17.08.05 ,I was asked to pay a sum of Rs.2755 towards processing fee(Paid vide cheque No 401162 dt. 20.08.05) & an assurance was given that loan will be given within a week. I gave all the documents required with the hope that loan will be disbursed within 5-7 days. What I never imagined that ICICI bank will behave worse than Govt. office & trouble me to this extent that they would neither say yes nor no.They kept on avoiding me. On some flimsy grounds they kept on delaying & asking for additional papers, but no decision was given. Till date they have not issued a letter saying that LOAN CAN NOT BE DISBURSED.
When things went out of control & deadline for my payment came close I got panicky & realized that ICICI bank can not be relied upon.
Then LIC Housing Finance Co(A GOVT OF INDIA Co) gave me loan within 3 days on THOSE VERY DOCUMENTS WITHOUT AN IOTA OF TROUBLE. My point is if these documents are safe for financing by LIC Housing Finance ,then a bank of ICICI repute, where I have 3 accounts & I had given 3 cheques totalling 5,00,000 as security (incidentally,LIC housing finance has not got these securities cheques from me)should TROUBLE ME SO MUCH & still claim in ads that “HUM HAI NA” .To me IT APPEARS THEY ARE SAYING HUM HAI NAHIN .Now after all that fuss & trouble when I asked for refund of my Rs. 2755,I was told that no refund can be claimed !
My questions are:
Why I am not entitled to refund of loan processing fee .Processing starts with applying & is completed only after disbursment of loan.
I have not backed out, it is ur bank which claims to be No 1,has backed out on VERY VERY FLIMSY grounds as on THOSE VERY DOCUMENTS LIC Housing Finance has disbursed the loan WITHIN 3 DAYS.
Till date ICICI bank has not issued any letter giving me reasons for not giving me loan, while sanction letter was issued promptly to claim processing fee.
I feel CHEATED BY ICICI BANK & demand
1) an appolgy for all the mental torture thai I have been subjected to
2)IMMEDIATE REFUND OF PROCESSING FEE AS MY APPLICATION HAS NOT BEEN PROCESSED TO LOGICAL CONCLUSION i.e. DISBURSMENT OF LOAN
HOPING FOR A FAVOURABLE & PROMPT ACTION
In Distress,
MANMOHAN SINGH KALRA
I-99,Lajpat nagar-I,New Delhi-24
9891106706
I recd a reply from Head,Private banking saying no refund can be given, without assigning any reason, rather admitting that “We confirm that we are unable to reverse the
processing fees for your home loan as the loan was
sanctioned and then cancelled from our end”
I again wrote to Head,Private Banking :
Head Private Banking
It is really surrising that u are admitting that ( I Quote from ur reply) “We confirm that we are unable to reverse the
processing fees for your home loan as the loan was
sanctioned and then cancelled from our end” & still penalizing me for no fault of mine.
May I tell u that sanction letter was issued on 17th Aug, & money was asked from me on 20.08.05(I paid cheque no 40116 dt. 20.08.05)
,so there is no connection between sanction letter & processing fee.
I can ask u WHY TILL DATE UR BANK HAS NEITHER CANCELLED THE SANCTION LETTER NOR ISSUED ME ANY OFFICIAL LETTER INFORMING ME THAT LOAN CAN NOT BE DISBURSED, WHY ???????
I think if u look at it impartially,u will find that ICICI bank is at fault & I MUST GET MY PROCESSING FEE BACK.
I will request u to have a second look at the case, kindly don’t be guided by what people who dealt the case are saying,GO BY THE FACTS WHICH I HAVE PRESENTED TO U.
Hoping for a fair trial.

ICICI is the worst service provider bank.! and 1/2 month earlier they came to our office and requested us tht they will provide us credit card which will be life time free. They have wasted our precious time in filling 4-5pages form.2-4 photographes, salary slip, bank statement and after 1 and 1/2 month they have not provided any credit card to us.They gave us 2 cell numbers One is of BALARAM NAYAK 9819198907 .which doesnt works and other is Shardas 9322701678.When ever i try to call on shardas no from 10 to 9 times cell comes busy. And bychance if someone picks ur call. Then u have to tell whole story he will keep u on hold then u have to listen their irritating music. Then some other comes on line then u have to again tell ur story.and after keep on holding and talking 3-4 times either the phone disconnects or they will say that they will call u.BUT THE TRUTH IS THAT NO ONE WILL EVER CALL U.THEY THINK OTHERS HAVE LOT OF FREE TIME OR OTHERS R STUPID TO WASTE THEIR TIME AND MONEY IN PHOTOGRAPHS.But they dont have time to just check that what happens to ur credit card.Where is the problem.THEY HAVE WORST SERVICE PLEASE NEVER GO THERE

Hi,
This is Abhishek chawla.
I have a salary a/c in ICICI in branch greenpark,Delhi. I had applied for Web internet banking password before 08/10/2005 through ICICI internet site request form. It was supposed to get with in 7 days. I again called up on 13/10/2005 and it was told to me that courier is still pending and request no (SR1010598433) was given to me. I also called up on 22/10/2005 and 24/10/2005 and same answer was given to me.
Really, it is very disgusting that even after so many days i didn’t received internet banking password.
I have also mailed on same email id(headservicequality@icicibank.com) on 26/10/2005. I also got a call. He assured me that he will call me after the generation of web a/c access Password and i can collect on 28/05/2005 from the branch in gurgaon.
But till now i didnt get any call from his side.
I think any one can get courier with in 1 week from any part of India. then why there is so much delay.
Really i am very much annoyed by the services of ICICI. Even mailing to headservice quality, my complaint has not been resolved. If this is the service of ICICI i dont think i would like to continue the relationship any more and also will recommend to anyone.
I am already late to file the income tax return only because of delay on your side.
On 28/05/2005, I also requested to send the statment of account of last year(April,2004 to March,2005) on my mail id in case if the password delivery gets late.
But i got the statement of account of last month i.e from 1-10-2005 to 31-10-2005.
Really its very very disguesting.
I am really fed up with the services of ICICI.

Dear Friends,
I am an NRI. Till now i heard the bad experiences of customer service etc… And recently 10 days back i come across problem related to transfer funds into another ICICI account and still they are unable to fix the problem.
I am on phone since that day onwards, communicating through emails tooo.. Seems we are in the mercy of corporate banks like ICICI.
NOT ONLY THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE THEIR INTERNET BANKING APPLICATION IS ALSO HAVING BUGS.
My experience is this:
I was suppose to transfer Rs. 2 lakhs to one of my friend ICICI account. My account was NRE account. First i transfered Rs 1 lakh and it went fine. Next i transfered another Rs. 1 lakh and the transaction was failed due to some reason and no amount was deducted from my account. I tried another time. Same error, i tried another time same error.. Totally 3 times failed and the fourth time i went on success. Story ended. Later after 7 to 8 hours my called in india called me and said that he r’ved Rs. 2 lakhs and Rs. 1 lakh was taken from his account. He rushed to the local branch at hyderabad and got a reply that it is problem with internet banking and nothing to do on their end and asked to contact customer support.
After my friend called when i checked my account in the trasaction history it shows i got Rs. 1 laksh money from my friend. Wondered how that happens (As my account type of NRE i was not suppose to get transfer of money in Rs.)
This was the story after 7 hours or so… As i got money back i thought do a transaction again and transfered Rs 1 lakh to my friend account again.
Finally the episode was ended as i transfered money.
Later in the evening (approximately 8 hrs) when i checked my account there was a transfer of Rs. 1 lakh from my account to my friend’s account which i did’t made transfer. Their system automatically did that.. It’s crazy and my account is having negative balance. According to me another system flaw.
Immediatly i called their customer support and got a ticket number… movie started and still going on with hurdles.
I written an email to account manager… after 36 hrs got reply with the ticket number (which i got the same from customer service 36 hrs before) and asked me to confirm “wheather you tried to make any transfer? if so what is the account number”
This was happened 10 days ago and till now no resolution…
As a NRI i have to rely on their internet banking system.. How they developed such a system and doing day to day business?
If at all we miss any payments bank is going to penalise us… I think there should be a law for the customer to penalise bank for the bank mistakes..
Customer service people are not authorized to give any further contacts of my account manager etc… Not getting whom they are tyring to protect ….
I am thinking of brining this to attention of RBI, press or any other respective organisation…
It would be great of you all, if you can please suggestion me in this regard.
Thanks
-Sriram

Hi everyone reading this blog. I must say that ICICI bank is the worst in terms of customer service. Its sad but true….. I applied for a credit card after a female kept calling me and counting my patience and while the application was sent of for processing i got a call from the same bank saying that they have not recieved my salary statements, now this bugged me since i had sent all the required information and when i told the operator about this she calmly said, ok sir thank you and hung up without saying anything. Today i received a credit card and i thought they never recieved my salary slips and my application will be rejected.
Now read this ….. i just got my credit card today and 2 hours later i get a call from another telemarketer from ICICI bank selling me a credit card. I asked her if they had my information in their database and she just shuns of saying no and tells me to apply for a new credit. This is so ridiculous.
I realize that ICICI bank is screwing their company’s goodwill as they might be employing and training the right candidated in their company ….. but the DSA’s of ICICI is messing it up big time as they are nothing but ghatis…. maybe illiterate people who dont even know any language to speak and most importantly hardly have a command over English language.

HI…
I wish to bring to your notice a serious issue with ATM transactions (in particular ICICI).
I used my HDFC Debit Card to withdraw Rs6000 from an ICICI bank ATM located in Hyderabad. After punching in my PIN and the amount to withdraw, the ATM worked on for a while and finally the Transaction was declined. I was stunned later to find that my account was debited with Rs6000 even when the cash was not dispensed. I raised a dispute with HDFC bank to co-ordinate with ICICI and solve the issue. The transaction slip was also attached, which shows clearly that “Transaction Declined”. My problems increased, when an HDFC employee called and told me the issue will take 35-40 working days to be resolved. I was bluntly told that my card was a MasterCard and that it will take 40 days, and no further explanation was given why it will take 40 days.
I consider this as a complete lack of empathy to the customer and his problems. Who is to blame ICICI or HDFC?. I don’t know whom to approach to complain about this issue.
We are at an age of sophisticated machinery and hi-tech and yet a simple audit of the particular ATM machine balance on that date is supposed to take 40 working days, even when all the details like Transaction slip copy, Date of transaction, time, amount etc details were given.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions to solve this issue or at least other means to make people aware of such problems.

r.ramamurthi do you have any relative working for ICICI. As i always have to stand for any transaction in ICICI. And just try to get a statement of account from them. Just go to any ICICI branch they will have max 1/2 tellers and long queues.
They have a very bad service for credit cards. I took a vehical loan and they showed me that they will be charging 10% interest and after loan approval and all things were done. i suddenly came to know it was at 11.74%. My fault i didn’t checked the doc’s in deep. But can you trust these buggers.
Also they will charge interest on the credit card O/S from the date of purchase + on all the new purchases done after that + the interest on total O/S amount. means once you default or pay min amount due and pay interest twice.
Even the charges on my saving bank account are pretty high. they even charge if the no. of cash withdrawls are more for a perticular month.
Even charge on the cash deposited in other city and not the city where the account is opened.
even charges four times for minimum balance than any other bank. Tis is tooo much for a saving account it should be less. If its a current account its o.k as they have a process a lot of transaction for a current account.
Only the great thing is the technology they use is good. But even then they are not providing good service.

ICICI is there to cheat all of us…….but….wait…
there is a saying……
” It’s the people getting cheated, are dumb fools…. rather than a person who’s cheating”
When we have tons n tons of people to get cheated….there will be always people who r most ready to commit the act of cheating…….
Now ICICI is targeting villages to start cheating the farmers…..by giving them loan to buy cows and buffalows……if farmers cant give back the loans, ICICI will take away the cows and start their own AMUL brand…. wonder what will happen to poor rural guys….
God save this country….dow down ICICI……

It is true that is ICICI Bank is a cheating institution. For not maintaining minimum balance they have charged thoudands of rupees. Actually my NRE a/c was with Bank of Madura which did not stipulate any such conditions. But ICICI took over this bank did not inform any customers of any conditons. They cheat many vilagers and rob of their hard earned money. Does this belong to any Politician or ministers if not why Reserve Bank of India is not doing anything to control this bank. ICICI even employ thugs to recover debts which is not allowed by RBI.

Hi! The story for ICICI is sadly true. This just goes to prove the point that advertising alone cannot make a bad bank a good one. The banking services are just about fine. Its the credit card division that really sucks. I have a story to tell and the contents are there for all to see on the site above.
Type ‘frauds Credit Cards ICIC’I and there are more than 50 L entries on the subject. MOst reflect the shoddy behavior of the reps of the credt card division and the poor customer care that they provide.
Soon it will become a internet movement and maybe these guys will learn from us mear mortals that we can fight back their fraud.

The WORST Bank on the planet, to settle a credit card dispute for swipes which are not done by you and when u chase the bank for a period of 4 months resulted in no results, is when I stopped paying on the card. The collection agencies that this so called “Best Bank” have hired suck, they donot have the basic manners or ettiqutes to speak to people and for them all of us are idiots and jerks on the street so that they can abuse us as much as they wish to. The online customer complaint link doesnt function so one cant even complain about the misbehaviour of the collection unit “Synergy” where they have outsourced collections.
ICICI can only ack cocy but cant see the customers plight when we request for information the standard reply is we will sent it to you so we should tell them the same for payments.
I personally feel there cant be any other worst bank like ICICI
MR Kamath do take some time to listen to the agreived customers of your BEST BANK. The bank for service has gone to the dogs

Hi
I am , sorry , I was a customer of ICICI Bank . A bank which claims to care for the customer - but believes and works against the dignity of them.
I had a unicorn bike till sunday morning , till 2 goons of the icici bank came to my home and took it away .
I have been trying to talk to the local executives in the icici bank and am willing to clear the entire money pending - cause i dont wont to deal with a bank ,which itself does not know who is the collection agent , how much money is pending etc , but just takes the vehicle away and then acts smart !
The fact of the matter is that I have only 2 installments pending not 3 , the collection agent in the month of september took a self check , encashed it and never bothered to give me the receipt - and i thought icici is a bank which can be trusted - apparently the slimy operators in icici out here think that with gundas on the payrolls they can get away with anything!
I guess this is regular way of operating in icici?
Even despite the fact that the bank has cheated me , I would want to close this with dignity , at this point of time .
I have been requesting jokers in the local hyderabad branch for the last 48 hours to give me how much does the bhikaris at icici need to clear my bike - but no one gives the answer.
Now here is the deal , either in the next 48 hours my bike comes to me - remember i am willing to pay .
Else ,first i will lodge and FIR naming all those who man this wonderfull process of snatching vehicles and then also go to the media.I also plan to go to the courts who i am sure will have some uncomfortable questions for you white collared over smart manipulators.
If ICICI thinks that it can get away with steamrolling dignity ,self respect and honor of an individual . Then i promise you smart guys one thing today - you guys are in for a big sad surprise. If unnecessary unethical violence of a personal level is what you guys believe in , then i promise you loads of it .
At the end of it let me also tell you guys , please make a note of my name and address some of you will one day surely regret loosing a customer of my calibre and attitude .
My agreement number is lthyd 00003471948

PS : i know some of you guys will think this mail is plain emotion , a guy feeling hit etc - you bet it is - because as a father , as a husband its not a very great feeling to see goons misbehaving with your wife and kids . I sincerely pray to god that at a personal level all of you who sit in the top chairs in icici one day get a taste of how does it feel when a lady of your family is misbehaved with by goons! I will never forgive and forget ICICI for this - I promise you people!

The icicibank is charging Rs 827 per quarter for not maintaining minimum balance .that is more than Rs 3300 per year.
Is there any cosumer or other court ruling against such high charges in any case.

I did have problems with ICICI, that was a big money transaction which was missing, I was in Channai at that time and they kept on re-directing me to Chennai, Mumbia, Delhi. Finally I emailed Mr. K V. Kamath and he appointed Executive VP Nemi Kocher to look in to my matter and withing 3-4 hours my problems were resolved. I believe the call center appointed by ICICI is the worst I have ever seen but the higher management is very responsible. Branch people differ from person to person.
This not the case with ICICI alone, apart from HDFC I never got satisfied with any of private banks customer care service, including Citibank (India and USA), IDBI, ICICI. Surprisingly I am happy with nationalized banks like SBI, Indian Overseas bank. Again it differs from place to Place, in cities like Chennai, B’lore, Delhi, the bank personals are very friendly but in small places like Indore Bhopal, Allahbad the banks are very roude and unfriendly.

Looks like ICICI bank is the con master among Banks.
Here is my experience.
Visited the M.G Road, Bangalore branch to open a current account. Was directed to a pleasant looking ever smiling guy, who introduced himself as Rajendra, Marketing executive for current accounts. He gave me a checklist of documents. And explained to me the various current accounts, the higher the QAB (Quartely Average Balance) more the facilities and benefits.
The starting Current account was STANDARD with Rs.10,000/- QAB. Second CLASSIC with Rs.25,000/- QAB. Third PREMIUM with Rs.50,000/- QAB. Fourth GOLD with Rs.1,00,000/- QAB. Fifth with GOLD PLUS with Rs.3,00,000/- QAB.
Explaiing these he asked me which account I would like to select, I told him I will go for CLASSIC that it Rs.25,000/- QAB. He tried to sell the PREMIUM account to me and I refused. He said fine no problem. Checked my documents and told me he does not want to waste my time and that he would fill up the application later and asked to sign on the application. He pointed the spaces where my signature was needed. I finished signing and thought what an understanding and helpful guy.
To open the account a cheque of Rs.1000/- was required which I submitted with all the other documents.
15 days later I got my account number and cheque books. As soon as I got the account number I deposited Rs.25000/- cash so as to always maintain the QAB. 6 months passed did quite a few transactions but always have been careful to maintain atleast Rs.25000/- balance. Now in my December statement there is a charge of Rs.700 plus 10.2% service tax of Rs.71.40 totalling to Rs.771.40 as charges for non-maintenace of QAB. Shocked I called up the call center and ater a long wait was glad to hear a human voice. The Rep told me I have not maintained the QAB of Rs.50,000/- hence the charge. When I told him I have opted for the CLASSIC account with Rs.25000/-, he replied Nope, our records show you have selected the GOLD account with Rs.50,000/- QAB.
Wanting to get to the bottom of this I visited the M.G Road, Bangalore branch where I had opened the account. There I was directed to one Arun Jacob, the solutions Manager. I handed him a letter explaining what has happened and asking him to reverse the charge. He promised to get back to me in 2 days time. 3 days passed, no news from him. I called up the Bank, got his direct number and called him. As soon as I identified myself he said he will call my in 1 hours time. 3 hours later when I still did not hear from him I called him again. He told me he has seen my application and I have selected the PREMIUM account. I did not discuss anything further but the next day I landed up at the branch. Had to wait for 1 hour 15 min since he was in a meeting. I asked him to show me the application form where I had accepted the form. He tells me to wait, call ups an assisstant and asks him to retrieve the form. When I reminded him that he told me yesterday that he has the form with him, he had no answer. After 20 mins of wating finally he calls to a room with a print out of the application and shows it to me. And yes my signature is there in an empty box in the corner of the line where the different accounts are mentioned. And the check box of PREMIUM account is ticked! When I explained to him that I did not fill up the form and neither did I tick the check box. He told me but you have signed!
When I got pissed off, he is told me there has been instance where the marketing guy has used white ink to hide the tick and has ticked on higer QAB accounts and in those cases he has supported the customer completely. But in my case, it may not be possible.
And why do the marketing guys do this? They get commission based on the type of accounts they sell. The higher the QAB higher the comission!
He also showed me the new application where in under each category of accounts you have to sign in a big box right under it.
When I pointed it out to him that the bank felt the need to change the form to avoid this kind of conning how many cases might have been reported. He remarked, “well I cannot say that, but even one case is bad for us.”
Now he has taken a week’s time to let me know what they can do about it.

Ref. offer letter for home loan facility vide application No. 777-5102160 Franchise code: I-NXT(Vikram PUN CS-0075)
1. I had applied for home loan on 7/10/2005 with submitting my all required documents and documents of proposed flat.
2. On 26/10/2005, offered me home loan of Rs. 600000/- and advised me to submit agreement of flat.
3. I have choised a resale flat at Sant Tukaram nagar, Pimpri, Pune. The flat was completed on 9/8/2002. I have made agreement with owner @ Rs. 1100/- per sq. ft. Paid Rs. 25000/- as a token amount and promised him for reamaining balance shall be paid within two months. ICICI representative Shri. Vikram Patil promised me to process this case fast with the help of his Branch Manager Shri. Rajesh Verma. (9823136455)
4. During November 2005, so many excused convey me that it is difficult to process quockly and i have to wait up to first week of December. I personally met two times in december to Shri. Rajesh Verma.
5. From 21 Dec. Shri Vikram Patil was gone on leave, After long waiting, I personally visited your Ghole road office and requested Shri. Rajesh verma. He told that there is technical problem for valuation of the flat. I requested to consider at least Rs. 500000/- but he told that 4 to 4.5 lakh only will get. there is no way to increase the amount.
6.Therefore, I was submitted signed all blank document with blank cheques for payment with ahope to get 4 to 4.5 lakh.
7.Then daily i contacted on phone to Shri. Vikram (9371208401), Shri. Rahul (9890634341), Shri. Meher Joshi (9860028558) and Shri. Rajesh Verma (9823136455) all are promised me that my case under process, but not informed the final amount.
8. I selected flat of M/s. Sneh mangal Developers & Builders, Pimpri being a well known builders. The fkat was completed three years back. The proposed flat i agreed to pay at rate of Rs. 1100/- per sq. ft. (Area is 54.27 sq. mt.+8.08 sq. mt. terrace). Considering half area of terrace, total area is 630sq. ft.
9. I heard that your technical expers considered only 510 sq. ft. area @ rate Rs. 850/- per sq. ft. and sanctioned me only 3.5 lakh. Where as Govt. rate is Rs. 950.5 per sq.ft. for this survey No. and market rate is there Rs. 1300/- per sq. ft. I giving two builders No. whoes sites are going in the same survey No. M/s. Sukhwani Campus, Sant Tukaram Nagar, Pimpri, Phone No, 56306941/ 30963685 and M/s. Goel Ganga Groups- “Swarganga” Phone No. 26140251 Mobile No. 9860091188 Both builders are taking booking at rate of Rs. 1301/- per sq. ft.
10. In my case ICICI not considered market rate, even govt rate and full fla’ts area also. Sanctionong 80% of total value amount Rs 3.5 lakh is very very less. I have to pay 7 lakh to owner, Remaining 3.5 lakh i have arrange from other source. I can pay 7 lakh’s EMI through salary but ICICI is funding me only 3.5 lakh by taking flats papers which is cost of more than 7 lakh.. This is unjustice for me.
11. Therefore, I request you to reconsider my case. For revaluation, if your experts need to visit the flat, for veryfication of area/ rates, i will bear your expenditure. This is a gunine case. I woul like to investigate my whole case from your any senior officer. I depended on icici, selected a flat of Rs 7 lakh. No body told me that your all procedures. I would have seleced a new flat.
12. I am working in Central Institue of Road Tranport, Bhosari, being a intrnational institute of Ministry of Road Tranport (Govt, of India). The institute is working on ISO principals, where custmer satisfaction is a main achivement of any organisation. I am expecting same also from your organisation.
13. A very very kind request to you that to reconsider my flats value as per market rate and help me.
I am waiting your favourable reply. Writing this note is not my intension to hurt personlyto anybody, only to inform ground reality.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,

There are a lot of websites from where one can get guidance to filing a suit in the consumer courts. I used the help of a website http://www.corecentre.com It is a bit slow, takes about a month but is effective in getting the higher ups in mumbai to call directly to you.
The guys are clearly afraid of any sort of legal complications and will do their bit to maintain the repute of their organisation. Go on and sue them. Their motive has become to fleece people rather than provide service.

This will delay the issue further…..ICICI always keep asking for 5 days, 5 days, 7 days, 10 days, to attend to the issue from August 2005……….this is what’s been happening for the past 4 months…..every time I spoke to a rep at ICICI on this issue he promised that they will get back to me soon,….please wait for 5 days, 7 days, 10 days etc etc….but there has been no decision yet……all these have added up to the delay and as a result my card a/c has been accumulating delayed payment charges…..so it’s ICICI who is delaying the settlement of the issue…..so don’t blame me for not paying the outstanding.

As per my working it is like this:
Due from me - Dr Rs 1504 (Actual Charge incurred by me in Big Buy shop on July 28th 2005)
Credit for cash back offer from ICICI - Cr. Rs (696)
Credit for Reward Points from ICICI - Cr Rs (996) accumulated points as on 31st Aug 2005
So if ICICI calculates properly then it works out to this:
Dr +1504 – (Cr 696) – (Cr 996) = Cr 188…..so I don’t owe any money to ICICI……It’s ur call, take it or leave it.
I WONT EMAIL YOU ANY FURTHER ON THIS STUPID ISSUE, YOU CAN CLOSE THIS CASE AND LET ME KNOW, IF I DON’T GET A PROPER POSITIVE REPLY FROM ICICI IN THE NEXT 7 DAYS I WILL CONSIDER THIS CASE CLOSED BY ICICI AND ASSUME THAT ICICI HAS ADJUSTED THE AMOUNT (Rs 1504) DUE FROM ME AGAINST THE REFUNDS (Rs.696 + 996 = 1692 ) TO BE GIVEN BY ICICI TO ME.

For ur kind info I was a very good customer (previously a Deloitte employee with Corp card privileges) and making all my payments in time and never defaulted, so why was the card cancelled…..I had the outstanding of 1504 which was due only on Aug 31st, but the card was cancelled on 22nd Aug without even informing me.
So ur statement of the card being cancelled due to non payment of unpaid transactions is illogical.
Unless I get the 5% cash back on Rs 13752 and my reward bonus of aprox 990 points are adjusted I wont be in a position to make any commitment of making the payment…..ALSO I NEED AN APPLLOGY FROM ICICI MANAGEMENT ON WHY MY CARD WAS CANCELLED, AND SEND ME THE FRESH ICICI GOLD CARD THAT I WAS HOLIDING WITH ORIGINAL LIMITS AND ALL PRIVILAGES ON THE CARD.
So I leave it to you if u are keen on getting ur money, also don’t expect any more further mails from me or any more communications, I have done my part of the work by taking initiative to pay ICICI.
Now it’s up to ICICI

Hi
Re: 4477 XXXX XXXX 8005 & 4477 XXXX XXXX 8013
On what basis r u guys asking me to pay you……????? Also I got few calls from ur credit recovery agents…..i told them the reason why I have not paid Rs 1504 to ICICI……I ALSO TOLD THEM THAT I WILL PAY ICICI……BUT WHEN I WILL PAY, TOTALLY DEPENDS ON ICICI…… IT MAY BE AFTER 5 YRS, 10 YRS MAY BE AFTER 50 YEARS……BUT I WILL PAY……BUT BEFORE I PAY I NEED ICICI TO ANSWER ME THE FOLLOWING Qs…….!!!!
1 – WHY MY CARD WAS BLOCKED / DEACTIVATED / PUT UNDER PICKUP CARD LIST……EVEN THOUGH I WAS A GOOD CUSTOMER ?
2 – IF ICICI DID NOT WANT ME AS A CUSTOMER THEY COULD HAVE JUST SENT ME A LETTER SAYING THAT MY CARD IS BEING DEACTIVATED AND THAT I CANT USE THE CARD ANYMORE….I WENT THRU SOME HUMILIATING MOMENTS AT THE BATA SHOE STORE WHEN I PRESENTED THA CARD FOR PAYMENT
3 – HOW WILL I GET CREDIT FOR THE BONUS THAT HAS ACCUMULATED IN MY CREDIT CARD A/C FOR APROX 1000 POINTS
4 – WHN WILL I GET THE 5% CASH BACK ON Rs 13750 APROX SPENT AT JWELLERY SHOP IN CHENNAI ?
I don’t hold these two credit cards any more, this was submitted to your CP branch….NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT GIVEN FOR GIVING BACK THE CARD TO ICICI…..
IN THE 1ST PLACE ICICI HAS BEHAVED VERY AROGANT to deactivate my card without informing me. I don’t understand why my credit card was deactivated / put on pickup card list. I was a good private banking customer of ICICI and paid all my dues in the past 7 years in time, (in fact I was the corporate customer of ICICI while I was working at Deloitte). I have never ever defaulted in making any payments to ICICI Credit Card, even after that I had to face the humiliation of the cashier at BATA shoe store at Sarojini Nagar shopping Ctr. When I presented my card to him while paying for purchase of shoes, he swiped the card in the card reader and told me that the cards is not valid and the msg appearing on the electronic card reader is “Pickup Card – Not authorized for Payment”……he gave me back the card and asked me if I had defaulted in making payment to ICICI…..all this happened in front of few customers who started looking me up and down as though I was some crook (somebody like Charles Sobraj)……
So if ICICI need me to pay the dues of Rs 1504/- I need an apology letter from the Head of ICICI Credit Card Dept and I need the active valid credit card with the same features sent to me along with the add-on card of my wife (I have surrendered both the OLD deactivated Credit cards to you CP branch )
Also I need to know the position on my reward bonus of aprox 1000 points and the 5% cash back on Rs 13752 aprox
So it’s in ICICI’s interest to restore my customer status back to normal.
ICICI “ WILL GET ” THE DUES FROM ME ONLY IF ICICI CAN ANSWER ME AND APPLLOGISE TO ME FOR THIS HUMILIATION THAT I SUFFERED.
Regards,
Krishnan Suresh

Mr Ravikiran… you are right
But I served them with Legal Notice and they were unmoved, but didn’t get the time to file the case till now… will do it in few months time.
My complaint was that ICICI Bank harasses a customer in the name of KYC guidelines and if you ask their representative, do you know what is mentioned in the guidelines, he keeps quiet.
Or in my case Mr Imran Siddiqui, the Solution Manager, New Delhi
disconnected the phones, by telling I am not the person to talk about the legalities, when I pointed out that they were wrong, though he always had objection to our Account address in the name of KYC guidelines. Horrible Manager !
Though one thing I dont understand how such young persons like Mr IMRAN are given designation of manager, when they don’t know ABC of banking…
Maybe, just to impress the client that a manager of the Bank has come to meet you

I also got cheated by this bank.I wanted to apply for home loan so i chatted with their web chat support about the processing fees.I asked is the processing fees refundable if i dont take the loan after approval, they said yes its refundable anytime you decide to back off.i also called their call center to confirm this thing they also gave me the same answer. After that i applied for the home loan and submitted almost 30 thousand Rs as processing fees.my loan got approved.I selected a property and the icici people refused to give loan on that property saying the proerty is sold for the third time so they can not give the loan. So i talked to other banks and they were ready to give loan on the same property. Now i thought to take my processing fees back and take the loan from some other bank. But now they are saying the processing fees is not refundable after the loan is approved.so they have taken my 30 thousand Rs for doing nothing.I am planning to go to consumer forum lets see what happens…….

ICICI NRI Customer Service SUCKS!!!!
1. In the first place, the online access to my ICICI NRI account was locked/disabled even though I used the login/password that was provided to me.
2. I tried my best to reach the support on the toll-free number (1-866-ICICI-4U). Everytime it takes more than 5 minutes to talk to a representative. And they just say that they will not be able to service on the phone, and ask me to mail to nri@icicibank.com.
3. I live in US and have been waiting to access my account for more than 10 days, and after 10days and many email exchanges, I am told that the passwords would be sent via postal mail to my Indian address, and not via email !!!!!!!. This just doesn’t make sense to me, as there is no one to access my account in India, and I cannot ask someone to go open my mail and send me the password!!!
4. Dealing with ICICI bank is driving me nuts. And I am seriously thinking, why I should do business with ICICI bank.
5. The following policies/features are JUST UNACCEPTABLE to me. I have few bank and financial accounts for many years now, and I never had to spend more than 15minutes to get any issue resolved.
5.1. No FULL-SUPPORT via telephone, especially to activate disabled accounts.
5.2. Email based support with 24-48 hour response time. And this is misleading, as 2 days is taken to respond, not resolve issue!!!!! My issue is not resolved even after 10 days, and each 2 days is taken to just respond with counter questions/answers.
5.3 The responses from the Customer Service representatives is just ambigious (I was asked to “answer below 4 questions”, when I actually saw 6 questions listed below the statement!!!. I had tough time to correctly interpret each sentence).
5.4 There is no way to reach a higher official/manager via phone/email to express my anguish, and get my issue resolved.
5.5. The website is not user-friendly, and there are many broken links. And sometimes, the error messages are just ridiculous (I got the message : “Unknown error occured”, instead of the something like …. “The Social Security Number you entered does not match our records. Contact Customer Service”)

ICICI Sucks..
I tried to withdraw money from my ICICI bank a/c using IDBI Bank ATM few days back. However, the transaction failed but money was debited from my bank account. I logged a complaint with ICICi customer care the same day and they said they will get back to me within 4-5 working days. I got no call or mail at all.
Then I sent a mail to their customer care.
Still no reply after 8 days.
I called up ICICI to get the status and now they have asked me to send a request to some mumbai address.
Its really horrible being with ICICI…I think they have the worst customer care in India.

If only I had seen this site a week earlier………..I had received the sanction letter from ICICI a month back.I identified the property and approached the bank on 18th Jan.Was told that the loan would be disbursed in two days on the basis of a draft agreement. For a resale flat worth 11.7 lacs , I had only asked for 6 lacs from the bank, putting the rest of the money from my side.Using a lawyer recommended by the bank I underwent all the procedures as and when required by the bank- sometimes even as late as 9.30 pm.Now I have been asked to make the sale deed with the vendor , submit the document to the bank and only then will they hand over the cheque.During this process they never volunteered any information about the procedure, never replied to our queries correctly , in fact gave us wrong info.We being first time buyers feel cheated by the bank in terms of service, honesty, reliability, availability of the persons giving us the info. Each representative gave us opposite answers regarding the disbursement of the cheque. They after doing their shoddy job see to it that they never pick up their phones. Now we have been assured by the manager on Bhandarkar Road that the concerned people will be taken to task and our cheque will be processed by friday , 27th Jan. Our vendor is still waiting for this balance amt. and is continuously following up with us for the same which is extremely embarassing for people who are used to keeping their word. Our future , our home and our reputation is at stake here. We have been undergoing severe mental torture for the past ten days. If the bank finds some way of not disbursing our cheque, what happens to the amt of 5.6 lacs already paid by us to the vendor who had been kind enough to vacate his flat in 2 days on the basis of what the bank had promised. If one cannot trust a ‘reputed’ bank to keep its word , what can common people like us do?I sincerely hope after all this torture the bank disburses the cheque on friday and puts an end to my misery.
Comment by Sabitha Varma — January 26, 2006 #
Is it the usual procedure for banks to give the cheque only after the original signed sale deed is handed over to them?If so , why will a vendor sign the sale deed if the cheque has not been made at all?

Well, after all that tension I finally got the cheque and I have heaved a sigh of relief. So, I feel maybe ICICI is so burdened with the increase in the number of customers that their cust. service has gone down. I hope they take corrective measures soon and try to reduce the number of dissatisfied customers.

Now hear my story,
I have transfered huge amount to my icici bank using money2india because I have pay somebody thought once I the money is in my account I could transfer to other icici account. For some reason, they have stopped fund transfer from past 6 days. I am stuck now. The funds are in my account and I could not transfer to the other account. And I am paying higher intrest everyday till today Feb 2 from JAN 27. The problem has not solved yet.
First time, when I called they said try after 3 hours, It was not working even on the next day so I called second day, again they said try after
next three hours, So I waited for three hours and called them again and they said the try after 3-4 hours. Since it was already night in the US, I tried next day morning and it was n’t working SO I called them again, This time they guarenteed it to work in the next 24 hours, SO I waited another day called again, they said, it is working now for those who had added payee before JAN 21 and for those whao added later it will work on Feb 2. I called today (Feb2) It is still not working.
Had they told me, that it would take 4-5 days, I could have managed in someother way, their misleading answer has costed me very dear.
Looks like their database crashed and they are tring to cover that they are fixing some security issue. Because I called one of my friend and he could add see the list of payees where as I couldn’t. If they are fixing a security issue, it should be for everybody or for nobody.
And their customer support sucks big time, They won’t know anything and those IT people won’t fix the issue nor they would process my request over the phone . They don’t have any backup plan.
If you have logged in to their site, it is tool slow, that makes me wonder, their servers crashed and running on very bad backup servers. Even if they are doing some maintainence, they atleast test on the test server before doing anything to their production server.
Next time when I go to INdia, I am closing my account at ICICI and open in other bank.
From past 5 days, I am very pissed off with ICICI bank and their inability to restore the functionality. I can understand if the delay is couple of hours but so many days.
I hope their management knows what we are going through and makes sure it does not happend again.

Guys,
We all know ICICI or IDBI or any other bank or customer service, THEY ALL ARE CRAP.
The reason they are surviving is because we give them business.
I just had 2 one hour conversations with ICICI NRI cell and it was just like banging your head against wall.
They have locked my account and their SLA says that it will be fixed in 24-48 hours, I wait and try it again when I get email from them telling me my account is being fixed. But guess what? Its still not working. And when I call them again, I am advised to start the email process again and wait for 24-48 hours…
Do they have any business sense at all? Time lost is money lost for me.. but obviously not for ICICI.
And they are not even bothere..
anyway, don’t know what I am going to achieve by posting this.. but I guess its my frustration…

HDFC Bank India is the worst managed bank i have ever seen!
hey people, please think twice before trying to get either any loan from HDFC Bank in India or even have any account with HDFC Bank India. by personal experience, they have the worst operations systems compared to even the smallest co-operative banks in the country. and if you want proof - i have plenty of proof as well as a set of subsequent apology letters from them!!!!
i have an overdraft account with them, and the conditions of the overdraft account are that minimum 3% of total overdrawn money on the 30/31 of the month has to be paid in before 10th of the next month. i normally utilise upto half of the overdraft limit and then deposit back almost all of utilized money by the 2/3 of the next month. But still their operations is so fucked up that they will mark you as a defaulter because you paid up 100% but you didnt pay 3% - can you imagine this screwup?!!!!
then their collections department will mark you for recovery and hand over your numbers to a contracted street-side ruffian agency, who will then start calling up and DEMAND (bhaigiri!!!!! dadagiri!!!!!) to PAY UP SAME DAY and then they will send people within an hour to your home/office.
this happened with me twice - once on december 2005 and again today 15/16 february 2006. i had the courage to walk up to their collections department situated on 3rd floor of Trade Star Building in Andheri East in Mumbai and gues what the collection department does? they will spend an hour looking into some computers and say that somebody has made a mistake somewhere, and that they are sorry for that and then they will issue a small 1 line apology letter.
you go home happily thinking the matter is over, but wait, thats just the beginning!!!!!!
the same story will be repeated every month or every alternate month!!!!!! NOW CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?????
hey folks, this has been happening so regularly with me, that next time i am going to get the police and consumer courts involved. Also, you know what people incharge of collections will tell you? the so called senior officers of collections - namely Vijay, Santosh Kamat, Sachin Karmalkar - they coolly say that their collection deparment salaries are directly related to the amount of collections that they make each month, so they do this regularly for that extra buck!!!!!!!! and they also defy you to either go to the police or go to consumer ccourts - they say nobody can harm them!
and hey - if anybody out here wants any proof - i have some video recordings of my meetings with them! as well as the apology letters!!!
you are welcome to share your thoughts on this

The worst bank as far as the customer service is concerened.
The employe are giving false promises at the time of application for the Housing loan and when the loan is sanctioned there are a lot hidden charges by them which are very difficult to belive.
Basically they are cheaters who have been given licence to cheat the customer in India by the Govt. There doesnot seems to be any governing body who is listening to the customer complaints in ICICI as well as in RBI.
Would suggest to opt for other banks instead of ICICI bank for any kind of loan.

I agree with the fact that ICICI customer service SUCKS..
I am in US and have transferred 44000 using money2india into to my savings a/c with icici. When I checked my a/c in internet, I found that some body had withdrawn all the money from non-icici ATM. I have complained to icici customer care immediatlely. I had to call a 2nd time as the call was disrupted first time after talking to a customer service executive for 45 min. It took another one hour to log complaint again. They told it would take at least one week to enquire. My parents in India went to bank and reported.
Then checked the account and found that icici send a new ATM/Debit card to my address in India as my old card would expire after one month. I haven’t requested for the new card and moreover there was no communication that they have sent a new card to me. And it was handed over by courier people to somebody else. I was shocked to know that they would give the important stuff to somebody with out asking for any photo ID. Another shocking news is that they have already sent the PIN also 3-4 days before sending the card.
Anyway they started enqiring and found the people who had taken the card. But still they are not giving proper response regarding when they can refund my money back or even whether they give it back to me or not. It’s been 20 days after I transferred the money.
I heard that we can complain to RBI regarding these issues.
Can anyone let me know where can I complain to RBI, or is there any other option to complain about ICICI ? I got fed up with the response from icici staff.
Thanks for any advice.

This one takes the cake. Imagine recieving a credit card from ICICI who certainly lived upto their slogan “hum hain na”!! by sending us a credit card with a limit of 40k to my grandmother. Now one might say that is perfectly alright - but it does become a problem as my grandmother passed away 22 years ago!!!! I wonder if there is branch in heaven. I hope not as even the angels and the rest are going to be suckered as us on this earth.

Hi Friends,
I was a victim of ICICI bank home loan department. They were not giving me loan on the properties of my chice Also when i told them to refund my processing fees They refused to do so. They said once loan is approved processing fees is not refundable.Luckily i had chatted with ICICI bank’s web chat support before applying for the home loan, in that chat i asked them whether processing fees is refundable or not if i decide not to take the loan after it is approved and They said YES its refundable any time you decide not to take the loan.I kept the transcript of that chat with me.
Now initially i wrote to their customer service for refunding the processing fees And i also told them I have the proof where your web chat support said Its refundable,Still they said its not refundable. After getting frustrated with them I decided to escalate my complaint to their higher authorities using a link provided on the ICICI banks web site itself. To my surprise they refunded my processing fees now.May be their higher management is more wise than their customer service.Still i was tense for almost two months and I left the hope of getting it back.Anyway good luck to all other victims.

ICICI Banking Services and their customer support are the pits. I do not think that it could get any better. I laugh when I think about this company heralding the ICICI OneSource … leading BUSINESS PROCESS OUTSOURCING they crow. I wonder who does business process work for their own flippin bank

I would like to share with you one of the worst banking experience I have had. It is with ICICI Bank. I am an NRI working in Denmark and as per the ICICI Bank website, I transferred 10,000 Danish Kroners to an account in Danske Bank,Denmark. This account is supposedly operated by ICICI who collect the money and transfer them into the Indian accounts of the respective people. It is nearly 2 months and I am yet to get the money into my Indian account (626201077225).
Because I too have a local bank account with Danske Bank, I did a normal account-to-account transfer. Now ICICI Bank asked me to ask my local bank to send a SWIFT message. When I approached the local bank, they said that SWIFT messages are only for wire-transfers and not for account-to-account transfers within the same bank. But ICICI refuses to acknowledge this simple fact. They acknowledge that they have received the money and know it is from me but still won’t transfer the money. They just keep on insisting on this SWIFT message which I repeatedly told them that the local bank won’t give.
This message is to warn all people who remit money through ICICI Bank. They must realise that when they transfer money into an account operated by ICICI, they are at the mercy of the ICICI. Even if they want to get back the money, they cannot unless ICICI decides to give it back because they have willingly given the money through online transfer.
I think the only hope I have is the Banking Ombudsman Scheme started on 1st January 2006 by the RBI. http://www.rbi.org.in/Scripts/bs_viewcontent.aspx?Id=159

Hi,
I wanted to bring to your notice that a certain reputed private bank like ICICI is blatantly cheating on its customers. I had taken a personal loan from them and the agreed rate of interest was 1%. While disbursing the loan, they never gave me a copy of the loan agreement. And, just like so many naive people who trust institutions like ICICI on its face value, I never asked for the loan agreement papers.
It was by chance that for evaluating the ‘before term’ repayment options I called them and was surprised to hear the amount that I would have to pay, which was much-much more than what we agreed upon in the agreement. The telecaller was arrogant enough to help me in a way that he boasted about the signed agreement and sending me a copy of it and I really thank my luck that I asked for the copy of agreement.
AND NOW THE BIG THING: When I received the photocopy of the agreement, at that moment, to my surprise and now to my rage, ICICI has forged my signatures….When I call them they have stupid excuses and Sir, Please…Sir , Please but nothing of substance…I have a photocopy of the loan agreement to prove this.
I want to bring it to your notice so that you can use your reach to educate & inform s
