Currently I think we have almost everything to work out of a browser. Do you really need other applications that are supported by the OS ? Think of it this way, compared to 5 years ago, what is the amount of time you spent working on a browser. I feel that time has gone up atleast by an hour every day. So soon you'll be using the browser for all emails, ppts, word, project and what not...
