Rediff.com offers one GB e-mail space
June 17, 2004 17:03 IST
Last Updated: June 17, 2004 18:37 ISTRediff.com India Ltd has increased the e-mail space provided on its portal for free users to 1 GB (1000 MB) from 5 MB and that of its premium users to 2GB from 10 MB, even as the company hiked the single outgoing and incoming e-mail message size to 10 MB. The rediff.com offer becomes effective from 8 p.m. (IST) on Thursday.
“With this increase, we have become the first and the largest e-mail storage provider in the country, and users no longer have to worry about deleting mails to stay within the storage limit, Rediff.com Executive Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer Rohit Varma said in Mumbai on Thursday.
The company has over 25 million registered subscribers and provides premium services (paid users) under Rediffmail Plus and Rediffmail Mobile services, he said.
Rediff.com also increased single e-mail message size to 10 MB from the earlier one MB provided for free users and five MB offered for premium users, Varma added.
Sending and receiving heavy files upto 10 MB benefit users who want to mail photos, music collections, business presentations and other large attachments, he said.
The portal would also start freeing of up to over 15 million e-mail addresses, which were not in use for the past couple of years, he said, adding that would give users a “better chance” of finding an e-mail ID of their choice.
Earlier this year, Rediff.com had launched Rediffmail with enhanced security and add-ons, to provide users a fast and secured accessibility.
Rediffmail also offers Spam Shield, options to send e-mails in 11 Indian languages and other features including a print-mail facility.
